  • Bronson spends time with a childhood friend looking for his Indian roots.

A pendant to Amid Splinters of the Thunderbolt, when again a man drags his wife (and in this case, son) out in search of his dream. But unlike the earlier episode, which was so pretentious as to be unwatchable, this one has characters who actually speak and feel and realize their mistakes and weaknesses. what is also interesting here is how Bronson serves to demonstrate the falsity of the search for authenticity. Tony was brought up by a white foster family and knew bronson as a kid. he now wants to return to his Kiowa roots and, thorugout the epsiode, bronson constantly, adn gently, points to the foolhardiness of the endeavor. And then we realize that Bronson himself is not on a search for anything: he knows who he is and wants to be just that person. It is from this grounding that he can show the falsity of much of the spritual searching of the 60\\\'s.
