They Think It's All Over

Show Summary

This British quiz show puts celebrities' sporting knowledge to the test. The show takes its name from Kenneth Wolstenholme's famous 1966 World Cup commentary quotation, "they think it's all over ... it is now!" On June 19, 2006 the BBC released a public statement that the show had been axed after 11 years on-air.

  • A sport-based comedy show with Lee Mack as host, Boris Becker and Ian Wright as team captains, Jonathan Ross and Rory McGrath as regular sidekicks.

    8.0
They Think It's All Over has been on air since 1995.

The series has won several awards since its launch, including four National Television Awards, and has been nominated for various awards including RTS and TRIC awards.

Nick Hancock hosted the series until Lee Mack took over in 2005.

Gary Lineker and David Gower were team captains from 1995 to 2003 and were replaced by David Seaman and Phil Tufnell. Ian Wright joined in autumn 2004, replacing team captain David Seaman. Boris Becker took over from Phil Tufnell in 2005.

The show is seriously funny, sometimes anarchic, and hilarious to watch. The *best* round has got to be the "Feel the Sportsman" round where two members of each team are blindfolded and try to identify a sportsman "by touch". The sportsmen range from world class professionals to minor sport celebrities! Watch this show, you'll enjoy it!
