  • Anthony Ruivivar

    Carlos Nieto

    9.2
As the son of Tony Ruivivar, the founder of Society of Seven, Anthony Ruivivar was used to a life of fame and celebrity. He often left his native home in Hawaii to go on tour with his father, experiencing firsthand the entertainment industry from a tender age. Once he graduated, he began to pursue a life of his own in the industry and eventually landed in a small, highly competitive drama class at Boston University. Anthony's diverse heritage-- his father is of Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish descent, while his mother is of German and Scottish-- was both a boon and a burden when Anthony began working. It was hard to find roles because of his hard-to-place ethnicity, but at the same time, the demand for classically-trained ethnic young actors opened up several doors for him. The latter allowed him his pick of agencies in New York. Once Anthony made it to New York, he auditioned for, and landed, a role in a pilot. Afterwards, his career began to take off as he was cast in several major films, including Starship Troopers and Simply Irresistable. His biggest break came in 1999 when he was cast as Carlos Nieto, a clueless, self-absorbed paramedic who loved women almost as much as he loved himself. He describes Carlos as "an ethnically three-dimensional character you don't often see on TV with a lot of room to explore. I am happy to portray who I am ethnically and not have to identify with only one part of my background. My father is Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish and my mother is Scottish and German. The writers have allowed [my unique diversity] to be who Carlos is on the show, and that's brave." His character's development over the six seasons of the show from seemingly brain-dead to seemingly brain-dead with a heart showcased Anthony's amazing talent. In addition to acting onscreen, Anthony is involved with theatre. He is a member of both the Imua! Theatre company and Circle East, and with Tony Glazer from Imua!, wrote and directed the play SAFE. The stars of the play, about a group of strangers trapped in a bank vault after a robbery gone wrong, included Jason Wiles and Coby Bell, Anthony's Third Watch castmates. Anthony's other passion is music, as he grew up surrounded by it. He enjoys writing and playing music. "Leaving my guitars out reminds me of my home," says Anthony, "because growing up in Hawaii, my dad always used to do that. I like the idea that I can just pick one up and play it anytime." Anthony, who has been married for several years, has one son, and is a fan of boogie-boarding and surfing. He misses the oceans of Hawaii, and says, "It just recharges you. It fulfills you in a way that Central Park, as beautiful as it is, can't."moreless
  • Skipp Sudduth

    John "Sully" Sullivan

    9.7
A stage and screen veteran, Skipp Sudduth came to "Third Watch," after appearing in the critically acclaimed Broadway production of "The Iceman Cometh" starring Oscar winner Kevin Spacey. Sudduth plays a streetwise police officer named Sully who works along side his young, idealistic partner, Ty Davis (Coby Bell). "I love the combinations in Sully," he says. "He's a veteran with a good heart. He's sarcastic without being cynical. He sees himself as the town sheriff." Born in Wareham, Massachusetts, Sudduth was an Air Force brat until he was 10, and his parents expected him to become a doctor (his mother, a nurse, worked on the first open-heart surgery team). He earned an undergraduate degree in biology, labored in hospitals and was headed toward medical school until he was diverted down a very unique career path that included stints in public relations and wine making. Eventually he found his calling when he landed in Chicago working with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Sudduth's film credits include "54," Spike Lee's "Clockers," "A Cool Dry Place" and "Money Train." He also starred alongside Robert De Niro and Jean Reno in the action-thriller "Ronin." The film was praised for its amazing car chase sequences and Sudduth, a race-car enthusiast, did 90 percent of his own driving stunts. Sudduth later starred in Joel Schumacher's "Flawless" (again with De Niro). Among Sudduth's guest-starring television appearances are NBC's "Law & Order," "Homicide: Life on the Street," "Trinity," "Mad About You" and "Cosby." Sudduth also appeared in the cable movie "George Wallace" and the cable series "Oz." Broadway stage work includes Lincoln Center's production of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" with Helen Hunt, "On the Waterfront" and "The Grapes of Wrath." Sudduth recently appeared in Woody Allen's Off-Broadway production "Writer's Block." He has been seen at Joseph Papp's prestigious Public Theatre in "Marisol" and "The Big Funk." Sudduth is also a member of New York's Rumble-in-the-Redroom sketch comedy ensemble. Over the past 20 years, Sudduth has directed plays, comedy revues and short film projects while steadily working as an actor. Undecided after high school and having passed up the opportunity to play college football, he began to work for the local Parks and Recreation Department. A year later the movie Mr. & Mrs. Bridge (1990) came to Kansas City. It was then that Wiles began pursuing his interest in filmmaking by working on the set. Not long afterwards, "Sometimes They Come Back" (1991 TV), based on a Stephen King book, came to town and he worked on the crew as well as appearing in scenes as an extra. After forming some connections while working on these films, Wiles ventured to L.A., where he appeared in commercials before landing the lead in an after-school special. Many feel that his big break was a couple of years later when he took the role of Colin Robbins on "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990), though others are more aware of his talent from his role as "Bosco" on "Third Watch" (1999). Recently he has begun to try his hand at directing and writing as well as theater. In the summer of 2002 he appeared in the Cape Playhouse production of "Mass Appeal" alongside Malachy McCourt, and in 2003 he was in Imua! Theatre Company's production of "Safe", which was co-written and directed by fellow Third Watcher Anthony Ruivivar. Upon completion of the final season of "Third Watch" 2005, Wiles began work on his independent film Lenexa, 1 Mile (2006) which he wrote and also directed. The movie wrapped in June 2005. In November 2006, Jason moved to Ely, Nevada for his new film.
