this is the first time i get to see this episode. i always wondered how doc got into the psych ward. i found this episode very moving. doc shoots the captain and holds the crew hostage. there are sharp shooter on the roof. sully runs over to the station to tell doc to get down. they go up stairs where doc talks to sully. he talks about taylor and about 911. this is a very touching scene where doc breaks down. and scully saves him. they walk out to togeter and walk towards the station. this is michaels final appearace. this is well written and very moving.moreless
  • doc in a position nobody would guessed him to be...

woah, what a crazy episode!! all the time i just thought: is he really gonna let this man die???? first i thought: well, at least he has a point, although it is just crazy to let somebody die just because he seems to want to close a fire department. but then i thought: these guys were doc's family, the only one he has got, and i think that it was the fear of losing this family that made him shot the guy.

another special thing about this episode was the kidnapping of rose. my pulse rate was about to explode, i simply freaked out when bosco got to know nardo had his mother...

    great episode!!!moreless
  • Michael Beach at his very best in his final Third Watch appearance.

I recently had a chance to watch this episode again, And after watching it, I was just blown away. This one lived up to and beyond the hype. Forget about the stuff with Bosco and Nardo. No More, Forever is all about Doc. Ever since the beginning of Season 5 you knew something big was going to happen with Doc's character. The signs were there. But I doubt anyone expected this. This episode is truly one of the best episodes of Third Watch ever made. Michael Beach was simply amazing in his final performance as a cast member. Doc entering the firehouse and shooting Steeper just made my jaw drop. Carlos and Kim helping Steeper was great, But the best scene was the one with Doc and Sully. Doc had been through so much, And he thought it was up to him to keep the station going. The scene with Doc and Sully was so great, touching and sad. One of the best scenes either character has ever had. Doc is one of my favorite Third Watch characters and it was sad to see him go. But this episode was simply amazing and one heck of a way to remember Doc. (and Michael Beach on the show)moreless

    • Bosco: You're just a thug, who's seen The Godfather too many times.

    • Doc: I was good too, Sully.
      Sully: Best ever.
      Doc: I'm gonna miss it.

    • Doc: I don't think they're gonna close it now.
      Sully: What? This house?
      Doc: Yeah.
Sully: No way. No way they're gonna close this house. You saved it.

    • Doc: (while Sully is walking him out of the firehouse in handcuffs) Can you, uh, get my tie out of my jacket?

    • Steeper: (in the ambulance on the way to the hospital) I went to funerals...hundreds...the families...I didn't know them. I never was in the field.
      Kim: I'm losing his pulse.
      Carlos: We're almost there.
Steeper: I only knew how to work the numbers...but the numbers never balanced that day...
      Kim: It's okay, Cap.
      Steeper: They never balanced...

    • Sully: (seeing Steeper on the floor of the firehouse) Oh my God. Doc did that?
Kim: Not the Doc we know.

    • Doc: (about Steeper) Look, I have to make him see.
      DK: He sees, all right?

    • Doc: It's gotta be eight more minutes, and I thought you'd understand.
Carlos: Here's what I do understand: I'm not letting this man die on the floor of my firehouse.
Doc: Hey, you better sit back down Carlos.
Carlos: If he dies, you're a murderer.
      Doc: Sit down!
Carlos: You wanna shoot me? Shoot me.

    • Carlos: Do you understand what you've done?
Doc: Yeah, yeah. I'm keeping them from closing the house, just like I told you I would.
      Carlos: You shot a man.
      Doc: Yeah, I had to.
Carlos: Had to? That's...you might need real help.

    • Sully: Shouldn't we just knock on the door first?
Cruz: We don't wanna tip him to anything.
Davis: We're talking about a guy we know here.
Cruz: We're talking about a guy with a gun. We gonna hang here and head over there later with a mop and bucket?
Davis: And your way of handling it no one gets hurt, right?

    • Sully: This is Doc we're talking about? Doc Parker?
      Levine: Yes, Doc Parker!
      Sully: Crazy.
Levine: (voice breaking) Well, he really hasn't been all right lately.
Sully: Where in the hell is he gonna get a gun?
Levine: Oh, guns are hard to get all of a sudden?

    • Doc: I got 11 minutes left, okay? And this is not gonna end before that.

    • Yokas: You know what would make me feel better, since you're asking?
      Swersky: What?
Yokas: I mean, no offense, but...you know, working the desk is like watching dry paint get drier. I was reassigned to full duty, you know, not just clerical duty.
Swersky: Well, who do you wanna ride with?
Yokas: What do you mean? Bosco didn't talk to you about us partnering up again?
      Swersky: No.

    • Doc: I don't want to hurt anybody, DK.
      DK: You hurt him.
Doc: Well, that's--- that's for us. That's--- that's for all of us, okay. I mean, we work hard to make this house what it is.
Kim: Don't say you're doing this for us, Doc.
Doc: Well you know what? Actions have consequences. And Steeper's starting to see that now, aren't you Jack? Huh? Actions have consequences!

    • Kim: At least let me give him some fluids.
Doc: Kim...if we were out on the streets, who'd give him fluids? Huh? No one, because help wouldn't be here yet.

    • Bosco: I need an emergency day, lost time, whatever.
      Swersky: Why?
      Bosco: Personal. Family emergency.
      Swersky: Is everything all right?
Bosco: You don't like it, fire me. I gotta go.
      Swersky: What is going on!?
Yokas: (to herself) Not that much has changed.

    • Doc: He doesn't listen Kim, so we gotta put it in terms he can understand.
Kim: All right, well, we're all listening, okay? We're all here. We're all listening. So why don't we just...just calm down, okay?
      Doc: No. I'm-- I'm calm.
      Kim: All right.
Doc: I told you I wasn't gonna let this house close.
Kim: By letting a man die?
Doc: No, no, he doesn't have to die. All he has to do is see what 15 minutes feels like when you need help!

    • Kim: Let me help him.
      Doc: 15 minutes.
      Kim: What?
      Doc: 15 minutes.
      Steeper: Please!
DK: What are you talking about?
Doc: Hey, hey, when he closes this house the people in this community will have to wait at least 15 minutes for medical or fire response. See, I did the math, calculated the response times. Isn't that how you do it, Jack?

    • Kim: Why are you in your blues?
Doc: Hey, Kimmy, I'm not going on the street today. Excuse me.
Kim: Wait, listen, Doc I need to talk with you, just...
(Doc pulls out a gun and shoots Steeper in the stomach)
Doc: Like I said, I'm not going on the street today.

This is an allusion to The Godfather which is a Mafia movie which was released in 1972.

    • Title: No More, Forever

The title of this episode is taken from a famous quote by Chief Joseph about the Nez Percé surrender in 1877:
"Hear me," he said to the white commander. "I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. Our chiefs are dead; the little children are freezing. My people have no blankets, no food. From where the sun stands, I will fight no more forever."
