{the note left on the body}
For Lieutenant Miller. "I'm not going away".
Miller: "For Lieutenant Miller." What the hell does that mean?
Cruz: You said they wanted you here to keep an eye on me, 'cause I was out of control and all the time it was just because you pissed some boss off?
Miller: Circumstances don't change what my end function was, and is, here.
Miller: This job needs someone who knows what they're doing, Lieutenant.
Yokas: You know I'm standing right here?
Miller: Has she even been detective for a whole day?
Yokas: She's been a detective for two days. Which is just enough time for me to ask you: "what the hell is your name doing on my victim"? Because you are that Lieutenant Miller, aren't you?
{drinking a beer in honor of his first stinker}
Finney: Here's to dying in the street where someone can find my ass.
{trying to "pick-up" Grace at the bar}
Finney: Your name is Grace Foster. You've only been at the 5-5 a couple of weeks. You worked in Bed-Stuy and want to go back there. But I'm hoping you won't until I get a chance to know you better.
Carlos: We are not dating.
Levine: Okay, true. We haven't gone out on an official date yet.
Carlos: Official, unofficial, it--- it--- it doesn't matter. We're--- we're never gonna date, ever, Levine. I don't even like you.
Levine: You gonna stand in the hallway all night?
Carlos: Are you listening to what I'm saying?
Levine: Yes, and so are my neighbors.
Miller: He drains the blood completely and dumps 'em. There's never a print, never a fiber, never a hair, and never any DNA.
Swersky: And are all the notes addressed to you?
Miller: There's never been a note before.
Finney: I had a bad car accident and that stinker, but, uh, they don't tell you about those in the academy.
Grace: Can you blame them?
{to Levine}
Carlos: I mean, I guess I like you…fine. You're kind of strange, sure. But everybody is a little odd in one way or another. Look, even I have some weird habits. Like--- like Davis is always giving me crap 'cause I put on a--- a sock and a shoe and a sock and a shoe, instead of a sock and a sock and a shoe and a shoe. I guess that's unusual.
{in the bathroom of the club}
Grace: What's the craziest place you ever did it?
Finney: Well, hopefully, right here.
Levine: Did anyone notice how pretty the air smelled today?
Carlos: It smells like piss.
Grace: I love this time of year. End of summer, it's about to change over to fall…
Carlos: Either one of you starts singing, I'm jumping out the window.
Grace: Only on the second floor. That's not much of a statement.
{about Grace}
Carlos: I like her better when she's bitching.
Yokas: Monroe and Davis found that body out front of the house last night.
Jelly: You're kidding me?
Yokas: What are you talking about? You don't watch the news?
Jelly: Too depressing.
Jelly: Miller's a jerk.
Yokas: Yeah, well, apparently the perp feels the same way.
Monroe: What's up Sarge?
Cruz: I'm free.
Monroe: From?
Cruz: Lieutenant Miller. The body you found had something to do with a case he was working on in Brooklyn, so, uh, he's off my ass for now.
Cruz: Be careful who you talk to, Monroe. There's a rat loose in the house.
Carlos: Wouldn't you hate to have a heart attack somewhere like this?
Grace: There's a good place to have a heart attack?
Grace: Let's check it out. Might've lost consciousness or something.
Carlos: Or it could be a prank.
Grace: Won't hurt you to walk, Carlos. Stay in shape. You wouldn't want Holly to see you getting all flabby.
Carlos: What did she tell you?
Grace: Come on, stud.
{to Grace about Levine}
Carlos: I can't believe she told you. It's like a--- a high school around here. Or a soap opera.
Miller: People used to believe that if you looked into a dead person's eye, you'd see a snapshot of the last thing they saw. You know how many times I wished that were true?
Miller: We gotta catch this guy, detective.
Yokas: We will.
Finney: I noticed you and Monroe giving each other sideways looks at roll call.
Davis: Damn. Good eye, young officer.
{about his ex-wife}
Miller:…she married the dentist she was having an affair with.
Yokas: Dentist, huh?
Miller: Yeah, not even an orthodontist. I mean, you know, when she told me about him I figured, at least the kids'll come out of it with free braces or something.
Finney: How long have you and Monroe been an item?
Davis: Not long enough for you to know about it, so keep your trap shut.
Carlos: What happened?
Grace: You got hit in the head. We're almost at the hospital.
Carlos: I can't keep getting hit in the head. This is like the tenth time.
Grace: Yeah, you definitely need a new hobby.
Carlos: Grace, come here…If anything permanent happens to me, tell Levine…Davis wouldn't be good at it, because I don't even think he likes my bird.
Grace: Your bird?
Carlos: Tell her, okay? Tell her to take the bird. She's an animal lover.
Grace: You're gonna be fine, Carlos.
Carlos: I can't keep getting hit in the head.
Nurse: What happened to you now, Nieto?
Carlos: I really gotta stop getting hit in the head.
Grace: He's also displaying a bit of a repetitive speech problem.
Jeffrey: Lieutenant Miller. You know, I really thought it was gonna be a problem to get her in my van, because it's a residential area and I was just pulling her from right out of her house, but, you know, she really wanted a puppy. She really wanted a puppy, badly. Lieutenant Miller, I am not gonna wait for you forever! Her name is Tara Connelly and right now her blood is draining out, and you have 12 hours. Twelve hours to find her, otherwise she's gonna be just as dead as that girl was last night.
Starting with this episode Bonnie Dennison (Emily) appears in the opening credits every episode. Previously she was only credited in the episodes in which she appeared in.
Bosco (Jason Wiles) and Emily (Bonnie Dennison) do not appear in this episode.
On the night this episode originally aired, life unfortunately imitated art when a Toronto paramedic was tricked into helping someone in an attempted drug robbery and threatened with a syringe before he was able to fight off his attackers.
Holly: Jody, Buffy, Mr. French -- get down.
Holly's cats -- Uncle Bill, Jody, Buffy, and Mr. French -- are named after the main characters on the 1960s sitcom Family Affair.
