Faith: Gusler didn't kill Ross.
Capt. McTighe: Friendly fire. It happens. Look, you should know, I'm putting you and Officer Boscorelli in for combat crosses. From everything we learned, your actions were nothing short of heroic.
Faith: Are you telling me that I shot Ross?
Capt. McTighe: No, it wasn't you.
IAB Det. Barnes: You fired five rounds, all of which have been accounted for.
Faith: What are you saying then?
IAB Det. Barnes: You hit the shooter with all five. We have one PD round unaccounted for-- Officer Gusler's.
Faith: No, Gusler didn't fire.
Capt. McTighe: Did he tell you that?
Faith: No, I guess I just assumed.
Capt. McTighe: Because he recalls that you did. His weapon checks out, one round.
IAB Det. Barnes: Who was driving your RMP?
Bosco: I was. As soon as my foot hit the brake, all hell broke loose.
IAB Det. Barnes: And when did you vacate the car?
Bosco: 'Vacate'? I think we pretty much vacated as soon as those jag off's started shootin' the hell out of it.
Capt. McTighe: Is that when Benny Ross got hit?
IAB Det. Barnes: Officer?
Bosco: Uh… I didn't see him 'til later.
IAB Officer: What were you doing?
Bosco: Well, I saw that these shooters were gonna pin us behind our RMP. I tried to run interference. I ran across the street tried to draw their fire. Give someone else an open shot.
IAB Det. Barnes: Can you show us your path? (Bosco draws it on the chalk board)
Capt. McTighe: Pretty ballsy move.
Bosco: It didn't work, though, did it?
Capt. McTighe: You're here.
Haley: There's no one to take care of her baby. Your baby.
Carlos: Excuse me?
Haley: Your daughter. She's eight months old.
Carlos: Whoa, back up. Let's drop that 'your daughter' stuff.
Haley: Vangie said that you were the father.
Carlos: Yeah, and she also used to say that I was an angel sent to protect her.
Haley: You were her only partner.
Carlos: Yeah, like you believe that.
Haley: I thought she was exaggerating about you.
Carlos: Yeah, whatever. Look, I feel for you, I really do, but…
Haley: I admit my sister had problems. But my mom is dead, my dad disowned her, and I'm just trying to finish Grad school.
Carlos: None of which is my problem. The kid is not mine. Period. I'm sorry.
Haley: We can resort to a blood test, okay?
Carlos: Bring it on. Anytime.
Haley: You just think about it for a second?
Carlos: I don't have to. Good bye.
Jimmy: Doc, some guy came by the house lookin' for you.
Doc: What guy?
Jimmy: Struck me as a lawyer type. I told them you off. Figured you wanted a little heads-up.
Doc: A lawyer?
Jimmy: Tailored suit, chauffeured town car, your name on a little piece of paper.
Doc: What'd he want?
Jimmy: I don't know. I told him to call later to see when you'd be on.
Carlos: Me, I'd be nervous. You, he's probably delivering a Noble prize.
Capt. McTighe: How's Officer Davis doing?
Sully: Really well. He should be out within the next few days, sir.
Capt. McTighe: You seen Maggie lately?
Sully: Not since that day.
Capt. McTighe: I put in a call yesterday. Strong woman.
Sully: Absolutely.
Capt. McTighe: First her husband and now nearly her son.
Sully: Yes, sir.
Bosco: Hey, you seen Yokas yet?
Sully: No.
Bosco: Been callin' her for two days, she doesn't answer.
Sully: Maybe she got Caller ID.
IAB Det. Barnes: Can you tell us what happened, in your own words, about the incident in question?
Sully: Well, what happened was: I was locking this guy and the next thing I know, bullets are flying everywhere. Basically, my point of view of that thing consisted mostly of the ceiling and floor of that restaurant.
IAB Det. Barnes: Did you see Officer Davis fire at Mr. Hampton?
Sully: Who's Mr. Hampton?
IAB Det. Barnes: Arthur Hampton.
Capt. McTighe: C-Note.
Sully: C-Note's name was Arthur?
Capt. McTighe: Apparently.
Sully: No, I didn't see Davis shoot anybody. I didn't see much of anything, I'm sorry.
(to the girls in the gang, about Monay)
Kim: Unless one of you can show me a medical license I'm the one making the decisions around here.
Kim: You got some mean lookin' enemies.
Monay: Those are my friends.
(someone is looking for Carlos)
Walsh: What ever happened to giving the heads up?
Jimmy: Come on, it's Nieto.
Kim: Were you getting jumped into a gang?
Monay: Are you still here?
Kim: Did you let those girls beat you?
Monay: Now, I gotta explain to them why I let you dis me.
Kim: You're worried about them?
Monay: Ain't nobody havin' a heart attack or something that you gotta go see?
Kim: Why? Why would you let them do that do you?
Monay: Why do you care? What, are you trying to win some kind of prize?
Kim: You know, you're right. What am I doing here? I don't have time for hopeless cases.
Monay: Hopeless?!
Kim: Your future consists of me zipping you up in a body bag one day.
Walsh (upon seeing the baby at the firehouse): Jimmy, what did you do?
Jimmy: People just don't leave babies on doorsteps anymore.
Walsh: No, now they leave 'em in dumpsters.
Monay: I ain't hopeless.
Kim: Fine, you're gonna be president one day.
Doc: What the hell do you mean you're her father?
Carlos: I said I might be.
Doc: And you weren't gonna say anything?
Carlos: I just did.
Doc: What's goin' on?
Carlos: Okay, you remember Vangie?
Doc: No.
Carlos: The nut job I was doing last year with the bicycle.
Doc: The redhead?
Carlos: The blonde, the blonde. It was her sister that showed up at the house today. She said that Vangie died and that I'm the father of her baby.
Doc: Well, it's 2002, and you're not a damn teenager. How do you accidentally get a girl pregnant?
Carlos: Maybe.
Doc: You never heard of condoms?
Carlos: Oh, stop, okay? I use them. … Sometimes.
Doc: … So, what are you gonna do?
Carlos: Well, I'll take her for the night until they figure something out.
Doc: No, the cops, they need to find the sister.
Carlos: So, what she can dump her again?
Doc: Do you really think you can handle this?
Carlos: I can try. Look, anything beats putting her into the system, I know. I grew up in it.
Doc: Carlos, this isn't a bird, okay? I mean, this is a little human being, a person.
Carlos: I know. I know.
Kim: Bobby died a year ago, tomorrow. How could a year have gone by so fast?
Taylor: It was a hell of a year.
Kim: Yeah. I didn't get to say goodbye to him, Alex. I didn't get to tell him all the things that I… just how much he meant to me.
Taylor: Let's go out there tomorrow. You can tell him then.
Kim: Yeah, I tried. I can't even bring myself to go in.
Taylor: So, I'll go with 'ya.
Kim: Yeah?
Taylor: Yeah.
Bosco: Listen to me, it wasn't you.
Faith: I know that, Bosco.
Bosco: You do?
Faith: Yeah, they accounted for my rounds.
Bosco: Really?
Faith: Yeah. They think it was Gusler.
Bosco: Seriously?
Faith: Yeah, there's no way to know for sure. All they know is that he fired a round and they can't account for it.
Bosco: I spent the last two days tryin' to get a hold of you.
Faith: Yeah, I know.
Bosco: And Ross' funeral's tomorrow. Are you going?
Faith: Of course.
Bosco: You want me to swing by the house and pick you up?
Faith: Yeah, I'd like that.
Faith: So you really drew me in the wrong place on the blackboard?
Bosco: Well, I was running like hell at the time. I can't be exactly sure where you were.
Doc (after Carlos takes the baby home): Oh, boy.
Music: Jimmy Eat World did "Hear You Me" from their "Bleed American" cd.
