  • The show has gone downhill and is no longer true to it's name of "This Week in Baseball".

    5.0
This show has been going downhill over the years. The producers should remind themselves what the name of the show is. It use to be a review of the previous week in baseball - thus the name - now it has become mostly a summary of one particular team's season. If the viewer doesn't like the featured team, the viewer will be turned off. It also seems that season after season they are featuring the same teams - despite the incredibly large New York market - most people don't want to see another advertorial for the Yankees. In this age of negative broadcasters, it is a relief to hear the positive, upbeat spirit of the narrator. It is good this has remained over the years. They should go back to the older format of showing highlights of the weekly events in baseball. They should also bring back the beautiful and dramatic closing theme song of This Week in Baseball.moreless
  • A fun and fact-based update on doings in the world of baseball.

    9.2
This show has covered the great American pastime for three decades. You get not only highlights, but interviews, features, and my favorite, bloopers. Nothing's funnier than watching a fielder boot a catch, or a coach lose his temper.

Most news shows and indeed whole networks have since developed shows similar to this one, but 'TWIB' retains its charm. My favorite host was Mel Allen. He ran the show for 19 years, and has since moved on to that great baseball diamond in the sky, but he will always live in memory.

There are so many teams, games and players to discuss, it'd be easy to lose track of them--unless you had a guide like this. Good thing we still do.moreless

Baseball is America's favorite past-time, and after being around for 28 years, "This Week in Baseball" might as well be too. Not your normal rant filled pre-game show, "TWIB" gives everything from highlights to playing tips, and can be enjoyed by all ages. Then, if you throw in the fact that baseball greats are hosting the show each week and that you get a look at them just having fun around the clubhouse or a get a guided tour of their workout, pre-game, and even eating routines, this becomes a definate winner. I especially like how the show has stayed true to Mel Allen, even after his death, and maintained his classic lines such as "How about that" by playing a recording of his voice each week. It's this type of consistancy that has helped "TWIB" continue to be a baseball fan staple for 28 years and it doesn't look to be changing anytime soon. While not as exciting for adults as ESPN's "Baseball Tonight", "TWIB" is still one of the most solid baseball shows out there and the only one that can span a vast array of age groups so masterfully.

My final review: A baseball fan's best friend. With a fun look at the game, hosted by the stars that play it, "TWIB" is a great pre-game show that is 100% enjoyable.moreless
  • This is an overall decent show.

    8.3
This Week in Baseball is an overall good show. It does fall behind other major baseball shows. The show basically gives you a guide to all that happened in the week of baseball. It usually has a guest host of a major league player. He often shows viewers his keys to sucess. This Week in Baseball is a good show, but can be boring at some times.
  • A good pre-pre game show to baseball. Good interviews and baseball trivia. Seems more movie like than show, but that makes it more ominous. Interviews are great, baseball players old and new host. Good show for baseball fans whether you're 5 or 500.moreless
