First time Cranky's theme music is heard.
The second (if you go by this episode being broadcast out of production order) of only two times in which Salty is heard to blow his horn in this season.
Salty's right eye moves upwards when he says, "You`ve blown the Main now, matey!"
In the close-ups of Cranky, if you look in his cab you can see his eye mechanism moving.
Stock footage from "Cranky Bugs" is also used at the beginning.
Stock footage from "Salty's Secret" and "Harvey To The Rescue" are used.
In the American version, Harvey's voice is a lot deeper than what it was in "Harvey To The Rescue".
When the shed falls, Salty is actually hit by it!
The reason is because the episodes featuring these characters were and still are broadcast out of production order.
In this episode, we are introduced to Salty and Harvey, but they don't come to Sodor until the next two episodes after this one.
In the shot when the narrator says "…so cranky that he swung his arm around.", Cranky, in conjunction with the narration, of course swings round. But guess what? Look closely and you can see a wire attached to the back of him which appears to be pulling him around!
Cranky's cheeks, unlike Season 5, are now red.
Salty: That reminds me of a story. It was a bitter cold winter. The brave little ship was stuck, until the ice melted the next spring. He barely made it around the cape. After 100 scary days at sea without a scratch, he sailed into port and crashed his bow, not 15 feet from my buffers! Luckily, no one was hurt.
Cranky: Except my ears.
Cranky: Not another one of your stories!
Appearances by Cranky, Thomas, Percy, Bill & Ben, Salty, Harvey and the Fat Controller.
An extended scene of the camera going through Brendam Docks and past Gordon and Henry can be seen in the music video, "Down By The Docks".
Cameos by Gordon and James.
This is the only season to have some episodes narrarated by three different narrators--Angelis, Baldwin, and Brandon.
The music is recomposed in America.
Re-narrated by Michael Brandon.
This is the only season not to have an episode with Henry as the main or a central character. He does, however, play an important role in "The World's Strongest Engine."
In the US version, Alec Baldwin has stopped using his enthusiastic voices for Gordon, James, Bill & Ben.
First episode written by Paul Larson.
Salty refers to a place called Grand Banks.
The brake van at the back of Percy's train at the start looks similar to Ertl's rendition of the Spiteful Brake Van (as of which their model looked different to how the character actually originally looked in the episode "Break Van").
This episode marks the first of the new series where the engines have been changed. Their colours are brighter and they are not polished (notice how you cannot see reflections in their boilers?).
The footage of the ship crashing into the shed, used during one of Salty's stories, is actually from "Cranky Bugs".
The opening credits are changed for the first time since the show began: First off, we see Thomas going past a windmill in the snow and then over the bridge by the watermill. Then it goes back to normal with Thomas going under the bridge with the schoolboy looking down and finally Thomas steaming into the station.
Salty makes a reference to "the Grand Banks". This is actually an area of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
