  • Thomas is in trouble with some Trucks!

    "Superb"
Thomas is bored, and when one night Edward offers to swap duties with him for the next day, Thomas takes up the offer. This involves taking Edward's trucks. However Thomas is not used to trucks... I like this episode. It is my second favourite episode of season one, and this is why. Trucks. So, we are introduced to the antaginists of the series, The Troublesome Trucks. Although they are the main enemies of the show, they aren't used as much as they used in the old days. Thomas is the first engine to be pushed by trucks, but however it didn't go as fast as I wanted it too. Thomas' impatient as careless personality is shown again, and it was the start of Fatty's appearing acts out of nowhere! All these elements put together to become my second favourite episode of Season 1!moreless

  • As always, this is a good episode from Season 1.

I remember the first time I saw this, that it was really well written and great. Thomas is bored, and when one night Edward offers to swap duties with him for the next day, Thomas takes up the offer. This involves taking Edward's trucks. However Thomas is not used to trucks... Thomas should have had a little more experience before he took them, but this gave him a really good lesson. Everybody should agree with this. It is thanks to buffers that Thomas did not crash in the siding. Well, that is all for this review and keep your eyes peeled for more of my reviews! Okay, please don`t hurt yourself.moreless

  • The tale of the Troublesome Trucks.

    "Perfect"
Thomas is fed up to the dome of pushing coaches in the yard. He complains about this to the other engines every night at the sheds, and he adds that he wants to see the word. They don't take much notice, because to them Thomas is 'a little engine with a long tongue'. One night, Edward takes pity on Thomas, so he offers Thomas a train of trucks which he has to take home, and Edward will puch coaches in the yard. Thomas is happy about this and accepts.
He is all ready the next morning when the drivers agree that Edward and Thomas can do each others' work. He runs happily away to find the trucks. But Thomas has no idea that trucks are silly things that like to cause trouble and play tricks on engines. Edward tries to warn him, but Thomas pays no attention.
When the train is all set, Thomas waits until the guard blows his whitle. With a 'Peep! Peep!', Thomas puffs out of the station. But the trucks are not ready. They shout as Thomas suddenly pulls them. Thomas calls to them 'Come on! Come on!', and the trucks reply 'All right! Don't fuss! All right! Don't fuss!'
Thomas goes along the route to Edward's line, rushing through Henry's Tunnel, passing the field where the Fat Controller once lost his top hat, and through Elsbridge station. At the same time Thomas rushes and annoys the trucks, who now want to pay Thomas out...
After going fast for some time, Thomas finally starts to slow down when he comes to Gordon's hill. Here, he feels both the weight of the heavy trucks and the steepness of the hill. When Thomas finally reaches the top, he slow to a stop. Suddenly, the trucks bump Thomas, and before Thomas or the Driver can do anything, the trucks push Thomas down the hill. Frightened, Thomas frantically tries to stop, but the trucks are too strong. Suddenly, Thomas sees the station ahead. Now he is very worried. He rushes through, and he goes off the main line and into a siding. Thomas shuts his eyes, saying 'I must stop!'
Luckily, the buffers at the end of the siding help Thomas and stop him, but only just. Thomas opens his eyes, he first sees the buffes, and is pleased that they were there. But then, when he sees what he sees next, he wishes he hadn't opened his eyes, for watching him is - you guessed it - the Fat Controller!
He asks Thomas what he is doing. When Thomas says about bringing Edward's truck, the Fat Controller asks why he was coming so fast. Thomas says that he was pushed. The Fat Controller says Thomas needs to learn about trucks and that they are very silly, so he decides to put Thomas in charge of pushing them about in the yard. Once he knows how to handle trucks, Thomas will be a really useful engine.
This is indeed a great episode of Season One. We learn about trucks, and how troublesome they are. You can't beat Wilbert's stories. He made this great in the book, and it's a great TV episode too.

  • A reasonable episode.

Thomas is still complaining and Edward gives in (eventually) and tells the little engine that he may do a swap: he will shunt and Thomas can take his trucks. The drivers agree and Thomas races off and bumps the trucks together. He sets off too quickly and bothers the trucks. He soon struggles up Gordon's Hill and when he stops, the trucks push him forwards. Thomas goes into a siding were The Fat Controller is standing and he questions the tank engine and sends Thomas back to the yard.

The ending was quite sad in my opinion, with Thomas leaving the station pratically crying! The fact he is still complaining is a drag but this leaves the season to continue on to more excitment...moreless
