  • Boco "saves Gordon's life" after being threatened to be thrown in the harbor by Bill & Ben.

Gordon winds up on the Branch Line after he goes on a rant about how Branch Line engines shouldn't be on the Main Line. It is explained that the Branch Line bridges are less strong and wouldn't be safe for large engines like Gordon, so he's lucky he didn't have to cross one. However, Gordon shows his rare gullible side when Bill & Ben threaten to throw him in the harbor, even though they're obviously just joking. Boco comes "to the rescue", somehow. I think it's just more Gordon being unbelievably gullible. What's up with that?moreless
  • More of those delightful mewbies!

The branch line is built to withstand the weight of engines like Thomas and Edward, not the weight of big engines who aren't allowed on those lines. But Gordon tells Edward that it's because he is too important to go on those line and Edward tries to trick him into thinking of taking BoCo's trucks. Gordon leaves saying branch lines are vulgar! That night, Edward and Gordon are taking their night time passenger trains. Gordon's new fireman looks back and sees a lady shaking her green hat and thinks it's the guard! They start off, leaving lots behind! When they come back, Edward must leave first and gets switched on Gordon's line and vice-versa! The next morning, Bill and Ben find Gordon on a branch line siding and joke about scrapping him! But BoCo arrives and sorts them out and both big blue and big green become friends.

It was good to see Gordon get shown up, and by new engines as well! This is one of my favourite as it has a good plot, two good charecters and some good jokes.moreless
  • Great!

Thomas' and Edward's Branch Lines are important, but Gordon believes them vulgar. One night, Gordon is almost ready to leave when the fireman looks back and sees something green waving. It's not the guards flag as he had thought, but a lady's hat. Gordon has to be stopped and brought back. By that time, Edward is late with his train, so leaves first. However, the signalman isn't told of this, and sends Edward along the main line, and Gordon the Branch line. Next morning, Bill and Ben see Gordon, and discuss between themselves what they could do with them - it's clearly not Gordon, as he says branch lines are vulgar. They decide to drop the "Load of scrap metal" into the sea, leaving Gordon terrified. But Boco shows up, and sets the twins right. Gordon is very grateful, to say the least. He still believes Boco saved his life - but of course, the twins were only teasing.moreless
  • Uh oh.

Gordon is fed up with branch line diesels pulling mainline trains. Edward then suggests that Gordon should go down a branch line sometime. Gordon feels offended and leaves. Edward follows. At night, both Edward and Gordon pull two fast trains. Edwards pulls a brach line train, and Gordon pulls a main line train. Before Gordon has to leave, a lady in a green floppy hat was saying goodbye to a friend. The driver looked back and thought the conductor had waved the flag. Gordon started off without his passengers. By the time Gordon had been stopped and brought back, Edward was late with his train. Edward headed off. But, he was sent along the main line while Gordon was sent down the branch line. The next day, Gordon was teased by Bill and Ben. When they went to far, Gordon was alarmed. Boc shows up, Gordon tells Boco what happened, and Boco threatens to take away the twins cars if they don't behave. The twins then leave Gordon alone.moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • (after Boco tells Bill and Ben off)
Gordon: Those little demons. How do you do it?
Boco: Ah well, it's just a knack.

    • Narrator: A lady in a green floppy hat was saying goodbye to a friend. It was nearly time for Gordon to start. The Fireman looked back towards the Guard's van and saw something green waving.
      Gordon's Fireman: Right away mate!
Narrator: He thought the Guard had waved his flag. Gordon started, leaving luggage, his passengers and the Guard all standing on the platform. Everyone was very surprised and cross.

    • Gordon: It's not fair!
      Edward: What isn't fair?
Gordon: Letting branch line diesels pull Main Line trains.
Edward: Never mind, Gordon. I'm sure Boco will let you pull his trucks sometime.
Gordon: I won't pull Boco's dirty trucks! I won't run on branch lines.
Edward: Why not? It would be a nice change.
Gordon: The Fat Controller would never approve. Branch lines are vulgar!

    • Bill: What's that?
      Ben: Shh! It's Gordon.
Bill: It looks like Gordon, but it can't be. Gordon never comes on the branch lines. He thinks them vulgar.
      (Gordon tries to ignore them)
Ben: If it isn't Gordon, it's just a pile of old iron.
Bill: Which we'd better take to the Scrap Yard.
Ben: No, Bill! This lot's useless for scrap. We'll take it to the Harbour and dump it in the sea.
(Gordon blows his whistle in shock)
Gordon: I am Gordon! Stop! Stop!
