what was the story with her?  was she someone they were toying with as a suzanne somers replacement when she was being a problem and then the character never caught on or something?  b/c i saw this episode the other day and she  was named in the opening credits and everything, which is even weirder since she only appears to have been in 9 episodes, so did she become a problem or something?  anything any of you know about this would be great.

The producers had no more ideas for the character.

I hated the episodes Lana was on, and she wasn't very funny or pretty either, in my opinion.

It was a contradiction of Jack's character too. Jack would have gladly had a lustful relationship with just about any woman. Their was nothing that seemed so diseased about Lana that Jack wouldn't have her.

I didn't mind her. I think Jack was probably intimidated by her falling all over him. Usually, he was the one doing that.

Lana came on a little too strong and was too forward with her 'sexual' advances towards Jack. That probably explains why Jack was so reluctant to start anything with her.

She was very irritating - I'm glad she didn't last very long! I can't stand her voice at all!

    Here's what I know:

Lana was only around for 11 episodes (Episodes 55 - 66); The reason on her dismissal is that the writers couldn't come up with anything new for her character. However, I think she just moved out because she was so mad at Jack for what he supposably did in "Black Letter Day". However I think if they ever did like a reunion, they could've brought her back, but considering the losses of John Ritter, Audra Lindley, Normal Fell, and Don Knotts, it would not be happening.

i could never get into Lana. it's not so much that i hate her, but i just couldn't get into her. she didn't feel like a natural addition to the show. the story arc involving her is sort of fun. but i think she mainly works in that short dose.

I'm watching Season 4 right now and I really can't stand Lana. Maybe it's how she's always hitting on Jack or maybe it's how she's always coming up with flimsy excuses to get his help, but she just really rubs me the wrong way. I'm glad she isn't going to be on the series long.

Lana was basically TV's first cougar. She did have a certain sexual prowess but she looked way older than she actually was. But she did bring too much awkwardness. It was like:

Lana: "I'm Lana. I'm new in town. Wanna rattle my bones??"

Jack: "You know you're old enough to be my mother!"

I can see what you are saying. The age difference between her and Jack was a very big part of why they never came together.
