  • Besides the pilot, I think this episode had the funniest quotes of season one.

This episode was very funny. I loved how it kept going back and forth between the two apartment rooms and showed what happened, but yet, no information was exchanged between them. The roomates think their rent money got stolen, but really, Mr. Roper found it and took it. They didn't want him to know that they "lost" it, so it was never brought up.

Many of the quotes were very memorable and in my opinion, some of the best of season one. This episode had some excitement since it isn't revealed until the end that the money was not stolen after all.moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Goof: When Helen and Stanley are on the couch, and Helen is trying to talk Stanley into inviting the kids out for dinner, you can see the boom mic at the top of the screen.

    • Goof: When Jack is in the kitchen in his bathing suit, he throws the banana on the table. The camera cuts to Janet and Chrissy for a moment and then back to Jack who has the banana in his hand again. One more camera cut and the banana is gone from his hand.

    • We learn that the rent for Jack, Janet and Chrissy's large 2 bedroom apartment in Santa Monica is only $300 per month. According to the cost of living calculator from the American Institute for Economic Research, that $300 in 1977 is equal to $995.05 today.

    • Goof: In the scene where Jack, Janet, and Chrissy are talking with the policeman about the "robbery," you can clearly see the front door is standing wide open. Yet when the officer goes to leave the door is closed and he must open it to go out.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Mr. Roper: We all make mistakes.
Mrs. Roper: Don't put yourself down Stanley; you do it better than anyone.

    • (Jack walks into the kitchen in his bathing suit)
Janet: Aw Jeeze! Do you have to walk around the house in your underwear?!
Jack: This is not underwear, it's my bathing suit; I ran outta clean shorts.
Janet: Oh, well in that case it's alright.
Jack: Why wasn't it alright before?
Janet: Because, before I thought it was your underwear.
Jack: Yeah but it's still the same shorts. You can't tell the difference.
      Chrissy: I can.
      Jack: How?
Chrissy: Because your underpants have giraffes on them.

    • Chrissy: Hey! Why don't we have a garage sale.
Janet: We don't have a garage.
      Chrissy: We could rent one.
      Janet: With what?
Chrissy: With the money we make from the sale dummy.

    • Chrissy: What time is it?
      (Jack looks at Chrissy's watch)
      Jack: Six o'clock.

    • Police Officer: This $300, do you have the numbers of the notes?
Chrissy: Yes! Two of them were $50s, fifteen of them were $10s, and there was...

    • (Helen and Stanley Roper talk about taking Jack, Janet, and Chrissy out to dinner)
Helen: Aww come on Stanley. Just a little something to give them pleasure. You were young once. You remember the little things that used to give you pleasure? Like watching the Wright Brothers fly for the first time.
      Stanley: Helen!
      Helen: Aww come on Stanley.
Stanley: Alright, I'll invite 'em out to dinner. It'll give me a rest from your cooking.
Helen: Okay good. You go and invite them and I'll look for something to wear.
Stanley: Oh are you coming too?
