      • Thundarr: What's wrong Ariel?
Ariel: You mean you're not wondering about the pearl's secret power? Or why Gemini didn't come after it himself? Or what kind of danger we may be riding into?
Thundarr: Why wonder? When the danger comes, we will face it.
Ariel: Can't argue with that. My mind is now at ease.

      • (When Thundarr battles the Groundlings)
        Ariel: Let me at 'em!
Thundarr: Ookla, take her to safety. There can't be more than 50 of them. I'll be fine.
Ariel: (Struggles as Ookla restrains her) Let me go you miserable Mok! Thundarr needs me! (As Thundarr wins) Why is he so bull-headed? Why couldn't he have let me help?
Thundarr: (After swinging down a vine and lands on his horse) The Groundlings and their motorsteeds are finished!
Ariel: They're called motorcycles! Shall we be going? (The group rides away)

    • NOTES (4)

      • This is the pilot episode of the series even though it didn't air first in its original run.

      • This episode is set in the ruins of New York City.

      • Among the famous New York City landmarks seen in ruins when Thundarr's group first arrives are the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the World Trade Center, the latter of which in our reality was completely destroyed in terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Since the cataclysm that put old Earth in ruins occurred in 1994, no such attacks happened which could explain why the Twin Towers would still be standing 2 millenia later in the world of Thundarr the Barbarian.

      • Post-apocalyptic Species: Groundlings, rat-like beings that serve Gemini. Also, a reptilian jungle creature resembling an ape that can stalk prey from trees which has green skin, fangs, and a long thick tail like a crocodile.
