    • TRIVIA (7)

      • There's no way a crust of topsoil could have formed over a big hole like that. Over many, many years, dirt and dust would have covered everything and filled in the hole, but it wouldn't have done what Brains suggests.

      • Sidewinder was heating up all time and it was becoming increasingly uncomfortable for the men inside, but not one of them thought to take off their thick jackets.

      • Thunderbird 1's remote camera is seen to launch from very close to the front of TB1. However, as shown in several episodes, the cockpit is located here, meaning there would be little to no room to store the camera.

      • As Thunderbird 2 is show descending over Pod 5 from inside the cockpit and as Virgil talks to Brain immediately after his arrival, TB's steering wheel is upside down (rounded red grip on top). This is the same orientation used for the picture of Alan in the opening credits.

      • As Thunderbird 1 leaves at the end of the episode, it's booster rockets set fire to a small tree.

      • When the Mole returns to the surface with Scott and Virgil on board, dust and sand can be seen pouring up from the ground onto the Mole's tracks because footage of the Mole tunnelling into the ground has simply been reversed.

      • Although the Sidewinder falls upside down in the pit, it makes no sense for the crew and control room to be standing the right way up when we see the control room.

    • QUOTES (0)

    • NOTES (6)

      • Colonel Sweeney and his subordinate were previously Captain Hansen and his co-pilot in Trapped in the Sky.

      • This is the first appearance of the Mole, which is later seen in City of Fire, Cry Wolf and The Duchess Assignment.

      • Scott's mobile camera is used again in Edge of Impact.

      • Originally filmed as a 25-minute episode, some of the footage used to bring it up to 50 minutes included the Sidewinder crawling through the jungle at the beginning of the episode and the failed attempt at lifting the Sidewinder out of the pit.

      • As there are no female or young boy characters, this is the only episode where neither Christine Finn nor Sylvia Anderson take part, even though they are credited on the end titles.

      • Alan, Gordon, Lady Penelope, Parker, Kyrano, Tin-Tin and Grandma don't appear in this episode.
