This episode, in this day and age seems slightly amusing to me, in a world of Air conditioning, computers and failsafes that a rocket heading to the sun could have problems.

Also the idea of robots having to solve problems, or in fact robots. Thunderbirds if it were made now would have laptop coumpters. But anyways the story had its touching moments particulary when Tin-Tin stays on Thunderbird 3 when it was heading for a collision course with the sun. It shows that she is willing to see it through even if it means her own life.

The picture of the radio beam heading to the rocket is a clever way of getting the point across, it also makes me wonder if the world was better when things were simpler.

Thunderbirds also has it moments of humor and in this episode the scenes with Brains playing chess with the robot is heartening.moreless

    • This is the first time that Tin-Tin and Alan take an active role in a rescue.

Jeff states that this is Tin-Tin's first mission but nothing about Alan, suggesting he has done rescue missions before but offscreen

    • During the journey on the couch to Thunderbird 3, a replacement couch can be seem ascending on a pole to take the place of the one taking Alan and Scott to TB3. However this seat is clearly behind the first and so it shouldn't be able to appear in the same place in the living room.

    • Alan and Scott manage to swap seats during their journey to Thunderbird 3 on the sofa, but are in their original positions when the sofa arrives on board the spacecraft.

    • During the television report about the Sun Probe, a diagram shows the solarnauts' control cabin within the Probe Module, but the control cabin is within the body of the Probe Rocket when the Module is fired into the solar prominence.

    • When Thunderbird 2 leaves it's hangar, it takes Pod 3 as Pod 2 is visible to the right. However, on arriving at Mount Arkan, the pod has become Pod 6. This error happens again in Vault of Death, Move – and You're Dead, Martian Invasion, The Perils of Penelope and Day of Disaster.
