Among the animal people are monkeys, jackals, and vultures. In future episodes, the ThunderCats would most likely meet Monkian, Jackalman, and Vultureman.
Lion-O is the only ThunderCat of the group with a dialogue.
Lion-O: Relax, I'm not gonna break the Book of Omens. All those years we believed that the Book of Omens was magic but maybe it's technology.
In the briefing scene with Leo, the woman mentions they'll need to use all of their Tigersharks to explore the world, that is 73% water, alluding to the third and final series of the Rankin Bass trilogy that was Thundercats, Silverhawks, and TigerSharks. They even show a water tank with shadowy figures that resemble the leader of the TigerSharks: Mako.
In a close up in the cage of the dogs, you can see a Doberman, this could be a reference to the 2000's Wildstrom Comics series: "Thundercats: Dogs of War", in which the main villain of the story was an anthro-Doberman called Doberlord.
In one of the monitor screens, there is a man with wild red hair and a red eye patch, this character is Mon-Star, a villain from the "SilverHawks" series that was also made by the same creators of the original ThunderCats.
