Episode Summary

EDIT
Bored and feeling that they are no longer needed, the Thunderkittens run away from home, but soon run into problems when they become ill from berries they had picked. A creature known as Cudi saves their lives. When the other Thundercats find them, the Thunderkittens invite Cudi to Cats Lair. But Mumm-Ra has been observing the situation and disguises himself as Cudi to gain entrance to the Lair. Many disasters occur and the blame is put on the false Cudi, who traps the Thundercats in the council chamber. The Thundercats realize it's Mumm-Ra and they manage to escape and defeat him.moreless

  • A key episode to the development of the ThunderKittens.

    10
This episode was a key episode in the development of the two youngest ThunderCats Wilykit and Wilykat. It had been shown since early on that they often got stuck guarding Cats Lair as the older ThunderCats rushed off to the action. All that being left behind built up to this pivotal episode for the ThunderKittens who finally had enough of feeling useless and left behind.

Wilykat convinces his sister that they should run away causing the older ThunderCats to worry as they go out in search of their young friends. While out, they make friends with an alien creature named Kudi and in the end, as she explains that even though the kids should have never run away, the adults would have to take some of the blame, Lion-O and Panthro walk in to admit that she's right and apologize for not letting the kids know how valuable they are to them. Lion-O vows to change that and as the episodes progress in the future, we see Lion-O upholding that. When he leaves the ThunderKittens behind to guard Cats Lair and the Tower of Omens in the five part ThunderCubs series, he reminds them of just how much they need them.

Aside from being a key episode for the development of the ThunderKittens, it was also a strong positive message for kids and parents about the importance of communication and for parents to remind their children of how valuable they are to them.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • At the beginning of the final scene, Wilykat and Wilykit are sitting in Kudi's home talking about everything that's happened. Wilykit says, "Then somehow, Mumm-Ra found out about you." But even though it's Wilykit's voice, it's Wilykat's mouth that is moving.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Panthro: We came to say we're sorry.
Lion-O: We miss you at Cats' Lair.
Panthro: And we need you. You're a valuable part of the team. We've always known that. It's just that we never let you know it.
Lion-O: But we're going to change all that. And I want you to promise me that if ever there's anything bothering you, you'll come and talk to us about it.

    • Kudi: You should never have run away like that. Running away never solves a problem, in fact it makes it worse. But from what you say, the ThunderCats must take some of the blame too.
      Wilykit: What did they do?
Kudi: They didn't talk to you to find out whether you were happy.
Wilykat: The ThunderCats are too busy for all that, Kudi.
Kudi: There's no such thing as too busy, Wilykat. If you care about someone, you make the time for them.

    • Tygra: You two are ThunderCats. You won't have much time for your new friend. You have obligations and responsibilities.
Wilykat: Ha! What responsibilities?! Half the time we have to stay home and miss all the action anyway!

    • Lion-O: Blankets! They obviously plan on being away for awhile. Those rascals!

    • Wilykat: What does it matter if they do worry? It'll teach 'em a lesson for ignoring us!
