Now don't get me wrong, I love this show, but this is the weakest episode so far in my opinion. While the premise is ok, I certainly don't feel having Eddie "cut loose" and tree hug for a week was done well. Only Joy seemed to make sense to me in so far as her usual reactions.
I also feel the whole realization of Jeff that Steph is not working on her Thesis for the last year was wasted. That could be a whole episode in itself but here it was just mentioned once or twice. Where is the witty banter from Webby not happy as Jeff and Steph volley one liners at each other a dinner over her blouse and his peach fuzz facial hair.
Eddie just didn't seem to be shown right. He is a cynical, uptight giant, if he were to cut loose I would expect the writers to have him go all out, it seemed his "radical" summer was very tame. Good but forgettable performance from The stark daughter and Hippie boyfriend but even they seemed in a box and not real.
Well not everyone can be a home run but honestly the lest two have not been up to par with the rest of the season.
Of course, if you haven't seen them all then this is still above average TV, but most of the season has been sublime.moreless
