      • Tony: (v.o) So much materials coming out of the cesspit Phil's over the moon, the fact that there is nothing roman doesn't seem to bother him at all.
        Mick: Phil!
        Phil: 'Allo Mick
Mick: I haven't seen you since yesterday, I need an update
Phil: Be prepared for a bit of a whiff though
Mick: Oh blimey yeah. Cor, wow. Look at this
Phil: We got leather, we got textile, we got a beautiful little piece of ribbon, we've got a boot in there. We've got so many fruit stones, we've got bottles, we've even got human hair.
Mick: What sort of date are you talking about?
Phil:Well, it's all 18th century, this is an enormous cesspit
        Mick: and it reeks
Phil: Yeah well, now you see why it's called a cesspit.

      • Sandi: Now this may look like a fabulous place for a picnic but it wouldn't be because normally there are bulls here, but not today, today there are lots of men with pickaxes and that's because we have the most fabulous geophysics results, we have this great big blob and where there is a blob it's very good idea to start a trench. Now we started early this morning, but I have to say things have not gone all that smoothly.

      • Barney: I think I know where we are
        Mick: At Canterbury, mate
Barney: Yes, well, thanks for that. But seriously (indicating on a map) Here's our trench, like that and you see those blue lines?
        Mick: Yeah
Barney: Well I reckon we've got that little blue corner there of Millard's excavations.
        Mick: Ah, right
Barney: So, I think what we've got is the cloister.
        Carenza: Great!

      • Mick: We've had a right day, Tony to be honest
Tony: You've had a rotten day, haven't you?
Mick: Yes we've had a rotten day altogether. Earlier this afternoon I was really worried that we were going to hit any of the walls of this building at all. We've got a wall up across the back, we know that they found a wall up over here which is marked by that yellow line
Tony: This yellow line running along here?
Mick: Yep, over this side we just had this later brick wall and they've had been struggling all day, but luckily now we've got a big metre wide medieval wall at the bottom.
        Tony: That's certainly a wall, isn't it?
Mick: It's the north side of the church, so I think we're ok with this bit of it
        Tony: Right.
Mick: But it was a bit of struggle I'll tell you, early on.
