Episode Summary

EDIT
The Lion King 1 1/2
AIRED:
Timon and Pumbaa start to watch the original Lion King movie, but Timon keeps insisting to fast forward to when they come in, because they weren't seen in the beginning of the story or anywhere until halfway through. Pumbaa suggests telling the audience their story, which begins before Simba's journey begins. Through this, we meet Timon's mother and Uncle Max, discover why he left his meerkat colony, where he learned Hakuna Matata, how he meets Pumbaa, and the perils they encountered while searching for their dream home.moreless

  • Unlike other movie sequels, this was excellent. A great improvement compare to the second one.

    9.4
This movie is a clear Timon and Pumbaa movie. Those two funny sidekicks finally got their own movie and they deserve it! The animation was great. After the lousy coloring they did in the second movie, this one was fantastic. Finally some real facts about meerkats and the savannah animals and not things like "we're shopping". It doesn't really have a plot, but it's just a pure comedy. A new look on the first movie. The songs were, of course, great. Few but great ones. If you feel like having some great laughs watch this. If you like the 1, you would like 1 1/2 .moreless
  • Fantastic! I loved those guys in The Lion King; it was great to see them have their own movie!

    9.8
I was NOT disappointed when this came out. Unlike a lot of Disney sequels, this was great! I feel the movie is underappreciated though, probably because TLK 2 was so soap opera-y, they were expecting even more of THAT. Seriously, this was awesome; meeting Timon's family and seeing how the duo met. Plus that scene where Timon asks Shenzi to marry him; classic! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!! For those of you who didn't enjoy watching this though, please, give it a second chance. Sometimes that's all something needs to prove that's its great.

I also liked the teen Simba events, they were funny as well. Snail slurping was hilarious! I had fun watching this, and I hope others will too.moreless

    • (it's the opening of Lion King and Timon tries to sing along to the song "Circle of Life" in a gibberish fashion)
Pumbaa: I gotta tell you, Timon, that song always gets me right here.
Timon: Yeah, Pumbaa. Well, enough of that!
      (Timon starts fast-forwarding the movie)
Pumbaa: Uh, Timon? What are you doing?
Timon: I'm fast-forwarding to the part where we come in.
Pumbaa: But you can't go out of order!
Timon: Oh contraire, my porcine pal. I've got the remote!
Pumbaa: But everybody's going to get confused! We've got to go back to the beginning of the story. (Pumbaa picks up another remote and starts rewinding the movie)
Timon: We're not in the beginning of the story! (Timon starts fast-forwarding the movie again)
Pumbaa: Yes, we were. The whole time! (Pumbaa starts rewinding the movie again)
Timon: Yeah, but they don't know that! (Timon fast-forwards the movie again)
Pumbaa: Then why don't we tell them our story? (the movie pauses at the scene with the hyenas and Timon and Pumbaa scream)
Timon and Pumbaa: AHHH! (Timon and Pumbaa hide in their seats, and momentarily get up)
Timon: Hey, I have an idea! Why don't we tell them our story?
Pumbaa: Ooh, I like the sound of that!
Pumbaa: Give them a little backstage tour. Take them behind the scenes for a revealing and intimate look at the story within the story.
Pumbaa: Because what they don't know is that we were there, even though they didn't know we were there, you know?
Timon: Couldn't have said it better myself! (starts rewinding the movie)
Pumbaa: So, does this mean we're going back to the beginning?
Pumbaa: Oh no, Pumbaa, no. We're going way back... to before the beginning!

    • (Timon tries to think of an idea on how to stall they hyenas until his plan works out. He suddenly comes up with an idea)
Timon: Wait, wait wait wait, hold on a second. (Shenzi, Banzai, Ed and all the hyenas behind them stop)
Pumbaa: Uh Timon, what're ya doin'?
Timon: (gets down on one knee) Shenzi-Marie Predatora Veldetta Jaquelina Hyena, (Shenzi and Banzai look surprised, Ed just looks normal) would you do me the honor of, becoming, my bride? (Pumbaa's jaw drops, Shenzi is completely shocked and her jaw is open, Banzai is looking at Timon like he's insane, Ed still looks normal)
      Shenzi: I DON'T THINK SO!

    • Timon and Pumbaa's commentary on the film before them is very similar to the show Mystery Science Feature 3000, where characters would comment on different science fiction films.

    • Timon (Mufasa is attacking the hyenas): I see carnivores!

This a reference to Haley Joel Osment's quote "I See Dead People" from The Sixth Sense.
