General guests: John Cooper (sculptor) "Just what is Tiswas? : Is there anyone left in ATVland who hasn't heard of Tiswas? Well, just in case there is someone somewhere who still sleeps late on Saturday, this is what you've been missing for the past two years . . . cartoons by the score, film clips by request - just say what you want and Tiswas may screen it - custard pies by the faceful, competitions, phone-ins - the show gets up to 150 calls during its 140-minute run - gags - heard about the Irishman who bough a zebra and called it "Spot"? Plus anything else the three presenters can think of." "And who is the presentation team? Now come on, you must have heard of "Old Strawhead" (the taxman knows him better as Chris Tarrant), "Poochie" (but he will answer to Peter Tomlinson) and Trevor "Me Myself" East. This manic trio come live from Studio Three today with business as usual, and a little of the unusual. The first and only time Tiswas came from outside Birmingham - an outside broadcast from Hednesford Park Raceway in Staffordshire, featuring a lot of stock car racing. The "100th Tiswas ever" was how this programme was promoted, although it was actually the 102nd, as eagle-eyed Tiswas fan Dave Clark spotted. He rang up ATV, and they said they wanted to give this show a special number! Features included Tiswas Torrential Time. Cartoons: "The Pup's Picnic", "The Early Bird Dood It!", "The Flying Bear" (Barney Bear) and "The Little Bantamweight". The final edition of the second series, being the ninety-third show since this series began. ATV would return to running miscellaneous filler programmes (cartoons and a film mainly) over the summer weeks.moreless
