Hooker and Romano hear shots fired and they catch a kid named Danny Perez holding a gun. He had been asked to hold it by one of his gang members. A man is found dead. A drug deal went down and the other guys shot him. Danny's father comes down to help, but he is hooked on drugs. A woman from the probation department named Sheila Benson wants to put him in a drug prevention house. Hooker finds the kid has a hearing problem and wants to help. He thinks if she gets him he will get caught in the beauracuracy and become a statistic. The others involved in the crime named Vega and Cruz talk over the situtation. Vega wants Danny dead and Cruz wants to wait it out. They agree to kill the whole family if it gets out of hand. Hooker keeps Danny out of jail. Danny is not real thrilled that Hooker is on his side. Hooker sets him straight and tells him he will help him with the murder charge and the hearing problem. He is staying at a Foster home for the time being. Hooker goes to see the gang leader Cruz. They also see Vega there. Hooker tells Vega he is on his turf and to behave. After he leaves Vega tells Cruz to kill Danny. Later that day Cruz confronts Danny. They take off with him as Hooker arrives. They stop them and rescue Danny. Danny covers for them and tells the police they were on a joy ride. They still want to kill Danny. They offer his dad drugs to tell them where his operation for his hearing will take place. They beat him up, but he does not tell them. Danny tells Hooker where the gun was located from the killing. He also tells him Vega and Cruz were involved in the killing. Hooker tracks down Cruz and convinces him to rat out Vega for a lighter sentence. He makes a call to Vega and he goes to pick up the drugs and leave town. Hooker and a copter follow him to an airfield. He tries to take off in a plane. Hooker jumps on the wing and stops him. Back at the hospital, Danny is able to hear. Hooker brings everyone together to help out in the future. Uplifting episode that makes you feel good after watching it. What a great show.moreless

    • Cruz: Are you crazy, Hooker? You almost killed us, man!
Hooker: With a gutless polla like you in the car? Wasn't even close.

    • Hooker: We got two things to get done: one is to clear up the killing and get you out from under it, despite your misplaced macho gang honor, and the other is to have someone take a look at your hearing problem.
Danny: Man, I hear good enough, all right?
Hooker: And you got a straight and narrow to walk while all that's getting done because you stray one inch off the path, and I personally will take you over to Judge Wallace. You got it?
      Danny: Yeah, man.
      Hooker: "Yeah, man" what?
      Danny: Yeah man, sir.
      Hooker: Now you got it.

    • Hooker: You're too sensitive, Romano. All I said was if I had a partner who wore an earring, she'd be a lot prettier than you!
      Romano: It's not an earring.
Hooker: Do you or do you not have a gold bauble in your ear?
Romano: I have a gold pin in my ear, placed there by an accredited acupuncturist.

    • (to the killer)
Hooker: You just got knocked off your horse, cowboy—For good.

    • (questioning a suspect)
Danny: I don't know where no gun is at. I didn't shoot nobody, man.
Hooker: You sound like a parrot, Danny. Un papgayo.
Danny: Look, I ain't no parrot, right!
Romano: Then stop talking like one.
