Hooker and the crew stakeout an alley to catch a killer of transients. Corrigan catches the guy, but he sustains a concussion while fighting him. Hooker responds to a strangling call. His transient friens Millie talks to him about the murder of her friend Audrey. She is worried about getting killed. The murder weapon used is believed to be a surgical knife. Corrigan sees a man he suspects of the crimes. He loses it and starts beating the guy. Stacey pllls him away and tells him to calm down. Hooker goes to see a friend that can help find a home for Millie. Hooker goes after another suspect with Jim & Stacey as backup. Corrigan beats up the suspect. Hooker has to pull him off. Ramano later tells Hooker about Stacey witnessing Jim going overboard. Hooker tells Romano he will talk to him when he is off duty. Jim loses control at his home and starts throwing things. Hooker gets the report of disturbance at Jim's house from Stacey. Hooker talks with a doctor about Jim's rage. She says it might be treatable. Hooker lays the news on Corrigan and he takes it hard. Hooker wrestles him to the ground and tries to calm him down. Corrigan gives up and allows Hooker to help him. We then cut to the killer with a picture of his mother on the mirror. He hears her in his head giving him verbal abuse. He tries to kill Millie that night. Millie goes to Hooker and tells him he wore army boots. Hooker asks Stacey to take in Millie until they catch him. Corrigan goes to the university for treatment. Hooker thinks this killer is a wannabe army man, a reject. They check the army surplus shop and the owner says his street name is rigger. Back at the station, Corrigan tells Hooker they need to cut him open to repair the problem. Stacey walks in and says Millie has taken off. All four go to look for her. The killer sees her and goes after her. Corrigan and Stacey spot her and the killer. Corrigan chases him until his car crashes. Hooker disarms him as the truck explodes. Corrigan gets an operation and is ok. Hooker friend makes a politician speech on the tv at the end saying they are giving Millie and others a place to love. Millie is supposed to speak but she leaves and enters the room to visit Corrigan. Nice change of pace here for Corrigan. This is a very memorable episode because of James Darren's acting.moreless
