His son Tommy tells him that Fran(his ex-wife) is seeing another man and they like him. Hooker gets a little down on hearing that news. We cut to a robbery at race track. The robbers are dressed as ambulance attendants. There are three men and a woman involved. A man thinks he recognizes the woman in the crowd. But she cuts the meeting short and walks away. They get away in the ambulance. Ramano is supposed to meet Hooker at his house. They are met by Ramano's friend. She says he went to the hospital after a call. Turns out Ramano went down to pick up the wounded officers wife. He dies before too long. Hooker now has a strong urge to catch the scum. Hooker talks with Corrigan at the scene and tells him he is going to help even though he is on vacation. Hooker says he talked with his children about it and they understood how important it was. Hooker talks to the security guards and he is led to believe it might have been an inside job or the place was cased very well. Hooker roasts the addict that saw the woman crook. He sends him downtown to look at the mug books. Hooker goes back home and Ramano's friend has put the kids to bed. He talks to her about her boyfriend wanting to join the police force. Corrigan calls Hooker about a rifle they got during the robbery. It is registered to a man named Dale John Hunter. He says only the guardsman at the track have acces to thoses guns. Corrigan also recognized him as the man he had shot. They go to Dale's apartment and find some lingerie with the name Stephanie on it. They find her next door. She says it must have been stolen and she did not know him that well. Ramano walks up to tell them he was killed. She seem more upset about it than she should be. They go to the scene and they also find the ambulance and a strand of woman's blond hair. Later on, the dead cops' wife gets a call from a man who says the crooks from the robbery were scum andno one was supposed to die. He tells her to go to her front door. She finds a envelope full of money. Corrigan finds out two men named Walker and James checked out the ambulance that day of the robbery for maintenence. It was never serviced. Hooker and Ramano go to find Walker and James. They find one of them in a garage, dead from the fumes of the running car. The other run away, but Hooker and Ramano chase him down. He said he was there, but he did not kill him. Hooker starts putting on the pressure by telling him all the others are getting killed by one of the gang. He says that the other man was named Roarke. The go to his home and find an airline brochure. They track him down at the airport and find one of the security guards. He had killed Roarke and was trying to leave the country. He planned the whole caper so he could get his hands on alot of money. He was the guy who sent the wife the money because he felt sorry that her husband was killed. Hooker tells him it was blood money. Hooker takes his kids back to the airport and says goodbye. Another fine episode with good performances by Hooker's kids and Gerald S. O'Laughlin(security guard).
