Ramano is taking a class from a teacher named Cynthia Randolph. He asks her out after class, but she is seeing someone. Turns out she is seeing Jack Lewis, an ex-con who is the leader of a ring that has done armed robbery jobs recently. He hits again the next day and Corrigan & Stacey get the call. Stacey catches one guy in the alley and she loses her gun to him in a struggle. He says "When you get to heaven, tell em' Frank Morland sent you". Right then Corrigan sees the guy and shoots him. Stacey is shaken up about almost dying. Stacey gets talked to about the wrong procedure. Hooker gets on her a little hard and Corrigan does not like it. Stacey had recently lost a friend and Hooker just lost a security guard friend during the robbery. Stacey tells Corrigan she is upset that Hooker thinks she must be perfect because she's a woman. Back at the crooks home, Cynthia finds out Jack is hanging out with another crook, she doesn't like it. Jack tells her he is doing research for a book he is writing. He wants to change the system and she buys it. Hooker gets a lead from a gun they confiscated. They look for Tommy Ellison at a gym to find a connection to the robberies. Corrigan calls Hooker and tells him Frank Morland was an associate of Jack Lewis. Jack tells another guy to kill Tommy because he will talk. He is shot, but is alive. Romano gets Jack's name from him before they do surgery. A man at the bar later that night is ripping women cops while Stacey is sitting behind him. Hooker sets him straight and talks to Stacey. She's not in the mood to talk to Hooker. He has her come to a class where they show how to use the right procedure. They have footage of Jack Lewis showing other inmates how to disarm cops. Stacey feels she has learned something. Later Hooker and Romano go to see Jack. They find out Cynthia is his girlfriend. She defends him by saying she is his lawyer and he has paid for his crimes. After they leave Jack is ready to leave town. Cynthia tells him not to go. Then he explodes and tells her what he is all about and what he is really doing. Hooker trains Stacey in the exercise room and tells her to have confidence in herself and not care what anybody else thinks. Later that day Hooker and crew gather evidence that leads them to believe Jack will hit a bank before he tries to leave town. This time he has Cynthia riding along with him. Hooker, Romano and Corrigan and Stacey get the call of a bank robbery. Romano arrests the driver and finds out it's Cynthia. They get her to tell where Jack is. Hooker takes Stacey along with him. They chase him into a wherehouse. Hooker is taken hostage when Jack comes up behind him. Stacey has a shotgun pointed at him. Jack tells her to drop the gun. Hooker says "you can't be expected to handle a situation like this". She starts lowering the gun and Hooker ducks down and Stacey shoots him. They talk about it being about survival. The shooting board who questioned her earlier, tells her she did a great job and she says she had a good teacher(referring to Hooker). This is an excellent episode with Marjoe Gartner playing the role of Jack Lewis perfectly. Lauren Tewes(Love Boat) also does a fine job. Only gripe here is the part of Stacey complaining that a woman is under more pressure and the guys at the bar talking so badly about women cops. That part was really contrived and not real to me.moreless
