  • RARE Bloodshed ...

    10
In this episode when Jim Corrigan (James Darren) is hit by gunfire you actually get to see his stomach fairly bloody and realistic. In most TJ Hooker episodes there were virtually no Bloody "bullet" impact shots. Mind you, this was NOt the fault of the directors or writers of TJ HOOKER. Following the unfortunate "TV is too violent" craze set off after the Tv series SWAT in 1976..Tv censors would not allow Blood shot impact gun shots for MANY years post 1976. It was not until possibly MIAMI VICE would another TV series show any bloody gunshots...so let's not blame TJ HOOKER producers. In this episode, they did their best to be realistic. In fact, watching the 4th season, each episode brought more and more character development and proper police procedure..the show was actually getting BETTER from season 1-4/. Somehow it fell apart in Season 5 and was quickly canceled...but season 2- 4 holds up to this day very well. Shatner toned down his attitude and acted quite professionally in seasons 3-4 unlike early seasons where he was always trying to "GET" the bad guys and called them "Scum" a lot. Good episode!moreless

Jim & Stacey see a car run a red light and they stop them for it. As Jim approaches the car, they open fire and he is seriously wounded. Stacey jumps back into the car and calls for backup. They grab her and a wounded Jim and take them to a church nearby. Hooker and Romano arrive and Hooker calls in more backup and a SWAT team. The woman identifies herself as Rita Holmes. Just then Hooker receives a call on the radio with a description. She is a murderer of her husband and two men have broken her out of jail. She wants free passage out and Hooker says she must surrender. She refuses and the stand off begins. Hooker gets the number to the church and trades them some cigarettes for a few hostages. He meets with the Father of the church and he says they are a wild bunch who can kill. He is a little reluctant to spy on them for Hooker. Hooker reminds him there is a wounded cop and hostages inside. Hooker makes another deal to get Jim out. He gets Rita's daughter to come and help. She says she does not care if she lives or dies. Hooker gets her to help anyway. Jim is brought out and Rita comes out to talkm with her daughter. She almost stays out, but she goes back into the church. Later on Hooker gets some money and a Limousine to escort the crooks to Mexico. Hooker tries to give the Father a gun to give to Stacay as he gives him the money. He refuses to take it. All other hostages except Stacey and the Father are let go. Rita wants to talk with the Fater before they leave. Hooker manages to slip him a gun this time. He gives it to Stacey. Rita confessess her sins to the Father and he says it's never too late to turn things around. Hooker is the driver of the Limousine. They let the Father go to take care of Rita's daughter. They start to drive off. Romano takes out one of the crooks with a rifle. Stacey & Hooker take care of the other two. The next day Hooker talk over the situation with the Father and thanks him for the help. Good episode for the most part. Good acting by the bad guys and the Father.moreless
