After a fatal drunk driving crash, Hooker and Romano set out to track down the gang stealing liquor and selling it to local youths. Romano finds a personal concern in the case when he learns that the gifted son of a deceased Vietnam war buddy has fallen into the disreputable company of the gang.   • Romano tries to help out a friend's son from ruining his life. The kid has a drinking problem and Hooker is out to nab the suppliers.

    A boy named Matt King buys some booze for his friends and they take off in a truck. They are driving wrecklessly and Hooker and Romano chase them down. The truck flips over and throws Matt clear of the wreck. Later at the hospital Romano finds his student ID card. He is a friend of his and his mom Irene. He calls home to see if Matt is home. Irene says he is asleep in bed. Hooker talks to Captain Sheridan about the booze problem at school. He wants more people on the job fighting teen drinking. Stacey wants to try out for Romano's flag football team at the station. Romano laughs until the Captain says it was his idea for a coed game. The group who sold Matt the booze hits a liquor store because they are low on supply. Hooker and Romano get the call. The crroks car won't start and they run for it. Hooker catches one of them and he won't talk. They go to talk to Matt's mom. She says how Matt has really helped her out since her husband died. Romano and her husband served in Nam together. Later that day the Crooks blackmail Matt into doing a robbery. Romano asks Matt to go with him to a hockey game, but Matt says he is too busy. The next day they visit the school to talk to a teacher. She identifys the guy Hooker caught a James Turner. She says he hung out with Susan Folsen and Jack Jenkins. She says he also hangs with Matt. Romano is upset about it. She also says his grades are failing and that he does not work at the arcade anymore. Matt and the crooks hit a wherehouse. Hooker and Romano respond. Romano sees Matt and he takes off. Hooker takes aim to shoot after he warns him to stop. Romano hits Hooker's arms up to miss when shooting. Hooker is ticked off at Romano. Romano explains that he owed his dad a lot and could not let Hooker shoot him. Hooker tells him that he was taking aim at the guy with a gun and not Matt. Romano tells Hooker he will prove himself to Hooker that he can rely on him. They go talk with his mom again. They tell her everything. Matt hears it all and after they leave he throws a bottle of booze at his mirror. He runs out to tell his mom that he needs help. He also says there is a robbery that is going to happen. The crooks arrive and Matt goes with them to save his mom. Romano finds out the other man they are looking for is named Luke Stevens. His mom calls Romano ans tells them where the robbery is going down. Hooker and Romano respond to the call. Hooker jumps onto the truck they are trying to steal and the truck flips over. All is well as the crooks are captured and Matt is safe. He admits he has a problem and is willing to get help and pay the price for what he did. One of my favorite episodes of the series. I really liked the part Ike Eisenmann played. HE had a problem and after he was caught, he took the blame and responsibility and asked for help. I miss stories like this, they don't seem to exist anymore. It is always someone else's fault.moreless

      Hooker: There's two of them that won't be needing theirs anymore.

      Stacy: You did it Romano. You made us all agressive. In fact, you got all the women so filled with hatred, we could have beat the Pittsburgh Steelers!
      Romano: Yeah, yeah, well, I-- I had that all planned. It was a great coaching technique, wasn't it?
      Crowd: No! No. No good! No, no, no!
      Romano: I did it! I did it!
