The "Night Ripper" sexually assaults a dark haired college girl and kills her with a butcher knife. Hooker arrives and chases him. He is wearing cowboy boots. He chases him and loses him. Hooker knows that it is the "Night Ripper" who was responsible for killing six darked haired college women four years ago. Then he just disappeared. Hooker believes that he must have gone to jail or been in an institution for that time and now he's back to kill again. He pushes Detective O'brien to give him and his crew the case. O'brien ok's him onto the case because Hooker feels he owes the six dead girls from the past for not catching him. He talks to the dead girls mother and she does not want to help. She did not get along with her daughter. Corrigan and Stacey talk to a guy she knew, but he is no help either. They follow a lead that takes them to a college fashion magazine. They meet Doug the photographer and he says the dead girl was not a model for him. Hooker and Stacey meet Corrigan at another murder scene. They find more clues to show he is a "cowboy type". They go to another suspects home. The dad tells them his son has not seen her in a year. His name is Tom and he is really shy and tells Hooker the same thing his dad told them. Tom goes out the back door and tells Hooker they were still friends. He tells them a man named Sonny went off with her that day. He also tells them he is a cowboy. He says he works at a place called easy trails. They catch him there. He says he was there during the first killing, but he did not do it. He says he ran away because he was scared. Stacey points out he would have only been 16 when the first set of killings took place. They go to a club to talk to one of the model from the college. She says the photographer knew the first victim. Hooker sees a blonde woman leave the club that looks familiar. He can't place her. They go to another murder six blocks away and find fibers from a blonde wig in the dead girls hands. Hooker runs out and heads to the college and they find the wig and then the photographer grabs Stacey from behind. He admits he kills brunettes because he was rejected by one years ago. Stacey gets a way and he runs outside and is hit by a car. The last thing he says is she would not die no matter how many he killed. They find out he killed in drag so the women that came to door would not be as afraid of a woman. This is a great episode that leaves up in the air who the killer is until later on. It is always a little creepier when a guy kills in drag.moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Hooker: Well, that ties it up then.
Detective O'Brien: All but one little thing—now McSweeney over at the motorpool was wondering if you could be put back on foot patrol.
      Hooker: Me?! Why?
Detective O'Brien: That was the third black and white you've totalled in the last ten months!
Hooker: I know. Doesn't it count that I got out alive?
      Detective O'Brien: Not to McSweeney.
Hooker: Tell him I'll be more careful the next time.
Corrigan: If you believe that I've got some swampland in Arizona for sale.

    • Stacy: (after 8th victim is found) How long is this going to go on before we stop him?
Hooker: The animal who kills like this, I want to put him in a cage... forever.

    • Beaman: (on the model) Young of course, but she knows her way around, if you know what I mean. Very co-operative.
Hooker: I'm sure she is, just like you, Mr. Beaman.
Beaman: Yes, well... I do have to get back to work.
      Hooker: Thanks for your help.
Stacy: (as Beaman makes a quick exit) I guess he means well.
      Hooker: So do street pimps.

    • Hooker: I want him.
Detective O'Brien: Okay, say I agree it was the same killer. How do I justify putting you back on the case?
Hooker: 'Cause the case is still open. Because I missed it first time around. 'Cause six girls are dead, and I owe them; and now I owe another one.
