Hooker and Romano clear up a traffic jam where a person dressed up as a chicken is blocking traffic. Romano hears a stolen car call on the radio. He sees it across the street waiting in th turn lane. He walks toward the car and he is shot by the driver. Hooker runs over as one of the guys runs out giving himself up. Hooker fires as the crooks fire. The crooks speed away as the guy giving himself is shot. Later on at the hospital, Hooker is told by Captain Sheridan that the news has a tape that makes it look like Hooker shot the guy. Hooker explains he did not and that the other crook shot him. Romano has a wound that grazed his head and he is going to be ok. He can't remember about the suspect. A man from the DA's offfice comes in to grill Hooker. Hooker rips him because in the past he was wrongly accused and his family went thru torment because of it. Later that day Hooker tells Romano that the guy that was shot died. His name was Greg Marshall. The balistics report comes in and it's inconclusive. Ramano is back to work. Stacey tells him to handle the Papaya oil show he is setting up. He tells her to sign the forms for him. They hit the street and get into a high speed pursuit. Hooker notices that Romano is having flashbacks. They nab the guy, but Ramano is shaken up. The guy is named David Harmon. He was a friend of Greg Marshall. Hooker tells him the guy driving a Bronco is the guy who shot his friend. Later that day Hooker puts Romano thru a shooting training video to check his state of mind. He fails the test and Hooker tells him he needs to deal with his problem. Ramano walks away. Stacey tells Hooker Romano is ready to quit the force. Hooker goes in and wrestles with Hooker on the mat. They talk it over and Romano lets it all out. Hooker tells him he believes in him again and all is ok. The bronco is found that Hooker shot his gun at. He looks for the bullet to prove his innocence. They find out the bronco's part have been altered and his bullet is not there. David goes to see the head man at his chop shop. He finds the bullet the chair of the bronco that had been removed. He calls Hooker as the guys start shooting at him. He hides until Hooker arrives. Hooker rams his car thru the shop and Romano reacts and shoots the bad guy as he is about to shoot Romano. David spills the beans and gives Hooker all the evidence he needs. The final scene has Romano hosting a Papaya oil show at Sheery's bar. It's a big hit because of the hot man and woman applying the oil and showing it. Solid episode again. Good humor, action and story.moreless

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Romano: Sixteen four-wheel drive stops and three hours of circle searching. Who said policework was glamorous?
      Hooker: I don't know. Who?

    • Stacy: Romano! You all recovered now?
Romano: Thanks to medical science and an incredibly resilient body.
Stacy: Oh, good! Now you can hustle your resilient body over to Sherri's.

    • Hooker: You sound like a committed cop, Captain.
Sheridan: I sound like you, Hooker.

    • D.A.: Three years ago, your partner was shot. He died. Naturally, it was tough for you. You second-guessed yourself, you evaluated it over and... and over and you made some decisions about how you wished you had dealt with it.
Hooker: It's called self-critiquing. It's a healthy process. You guys should try it when you lose those open-and-shut cases in court.

    • (Hooker and Romano have just arrested a man in a chicken suit)
Chicken: Come on, officer. Give me a break; it isn't easy being a chicken!
      Hooker: Especially when you're fried.

    • (reading Romano's medical chart)
Hooker: Bullet graze to the upper left forehead, causing a mild concussion. Well, lucky the bullet hit you in the head and not one of your vital organs.
      Romano: Funny guy.

    • (Hooker and Romano are discussing aging)
      Romano: Papaya oil would help.
Hooker: I'm almost afraid to ask.
Romano: The oil of papaya holds the secret of youth.
      Hooker: Yeah. Papaya?
      Romano: Yeah.
Hooker: Well listen I... I haven't had a glass of papaya juice in a long time...
Romano: No, no, no, no, not papaya juice, papaya oil. You rub it all over your body.
      Hooker: No way!
      Romano: Come on it's—
Hooker: I'm not going to rub fruit oil all over my body.
      Romano: Okay, fine.
