Hooker and Romano are just finishing working on a case with Lt. Paul McGuire, a close friend and colleague of Hooker's, when they respond to a reported rape, and the victim turns out to be McGuire's daughter. The girl is certain that she knows the attacker and can identify him, but the attacker, a lawyer, uses legal loopholes to get off without charge. As Hooker tries to nail the attacker "by the book," McGuire becomes infuriated at the lack of action taken and takes matters into his own hands.   • Hooker tries to help an old friend Paul Mcguire from taking the law into his own hands after his daughter is raped.

    Hooker and Romano are on a stakeout with Hooker's old buddy Paul Mcguire. They see a robbery going down and bust the crooks. Hooker saves Paul from being shot when one of the crooks tries to shoot him. At a dance studio, a guy named Larry Foster asks out Paul daughter Valerie for a date. She turns him down. He rapes her in the parking lot and says "Sweet Val, Sweet, Sweet Val". Hooker responds to the rape call. Paul recognizes her car and races over to her. Hooker and Paul talk with Val. She tells them he wore a mask, but that she knew his voice. She says it was Larry Foster. She also tells them what he said. Hooker finds out he is a lawyer. He asks a lawyer he knows named Marcy Wade to point him out. He arrests him on the spot. They put him into a line up with a hood on. She thinks it's number 3. They dismiss the prisoners and Larry rips off his mask. She screams that it's him. The DA says she was not sure enough and he releases him. Paul goes crazy and Hooker tries to keep him cool. Hooker digs for others that were involved in Larry's past. Hooker's car is repossessed because his bank made a mistake. Ramano tells him to change to his bank. Paul tells him Larry got off on another rape charge. Hooker thinks he can make a case with the other victim. Paul storms out and plants evidence in his home. Hooker finds out that Marcy Wade was one of his prior victims. Larry stikres again and Hooker gets the call. He cahses Larry down and arrests him again. Hooker goes to the DA and tries to get the case going again. Then a man shows up with evidence that Paul planted. Hooker know this and confronts him to admit he planted the evidence. He admits it and hits Hooker. The next day Hooker and Romano talk with Marcy. She is ready to help in anyway she can. Hooker arrives back at the station and Paul has his badge pulled. He leaves and loads his gun. He comes back later and takes Larry at gunpoint. Hooker chases him down and convinces him that he has a case. The next day Hooker visits Paul in the cell with his daughter and tells him everything will be fine. This is an excellent episode and a change of character for Leonard Nimoy. He is usually so laid back.moreless

      Hooker: You tell me what a rapist looks like, and I'll show you what a cop's daughter looks like... after she's been raped.

    • Hooker: Excuse me, Mr. Foster.
      Foster: Yes, what is it?
      Hooker: I'm Sergeant Hooker. Your client's going to need a new attorney; you're going to jail.

    • Special Guest Star Leonard Nimoy, of course, is famous for playing Mr. Spock opposite William Shatner's Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek (1966-1969; as well as subsequent big screen outings), a thing that was heavily promoted when this episode first aired.
