Sunday 8:00 PM on In Season
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that TNA has implemented a policy to no longer "paper" their pay-per-view events feeling it's not good long-term business to give tickets away for free. TNA would often paper their pay-per-view events the week before the show due to lackluster ticket sales to make the venue appear full to the television audience. Last Sunday's Hard Justice pay-per-view drew 3,500 fans to the 8,500 seat Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey, another figure that has to be considered disappointing. By not giving away free tickets for Hard Justice, TNA combated the appearance of empty seats by moving nearly all of the fans to one half of the arena to give the illusion to the television audience that they drew a packed arena. One side of the arena had nearly all of fans whereas the hard camera side was practically deserted sans a few fans in the ringside seats.
The TNA website has put up an actual profile page on Sheik Abdul Bashir, which you can see at this link.
-Jim Ross has updated the Q&A section of his website which can be found at JrsBarBQ.com. Ross discusses a number of topics including CM Punk losing momentum, OVW on WWE 24/7, and Jim Cornette returning to WWE. Below are some highlights from the blog:
Ross on whether he'd consider working for TNA or ROH if he left WWE: "Not likely in all due respect to the two aforementioned organizations as I would focus on our restaurant business and spend more time with family, friends, and football."

It's being reported that Shannon Moore may not be a sure thing for a spot in TNA when his WWE 90 day no-compete clause expires. TNA had high hopes for Moore when they put him over AJ **** at the end of his last run with the company, but then during contract negotiations, he ended up signing with WWE. This may have seriously hurt his chances of another run in TNA.
As a result of his recent release from World Wrestling Entertainment, Trevor Murdoch is currently waiting for his 90-day no-compete clause to expire. TNA has reportedly shown little to no interest in acquiring him, although it is believed that the door is open to him landing bookings with Pro Wrestling NOAH should he decide to head to Japan.
The Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, are apparently in the TNA doghouse. The team still has heat for refusing to do a blade job, and management feels they didn't go all out to be top stars.
TNA is looking into the possibility of running an angle similar to WCW's "New Blood vs The Millionaires Club." If the angle does go into effect, it would most likely see Kevin Nash turn on Samoa Joe and align himself with Sting, Kurt Angle and Booker T. Team 3D is currently involved in contract negotiations with TNA, and if they do end up re-signing with the company, then they will most likely be used in the angle as part of the Millionaire's club. The idea will be that the veteran team will claim they have paved the way for the new blood's success in the business and that the rookie's are ungrateful for everything they have.
-Why in blue hell do they think these two men aren't stars?! WTH is wrong with TNA? They are missing a golden opportunity.
-As for that New Blood vs The Millionaires Club part 2 thing...I am really really hoping that they dont' call them by those names and it does not suck majorly.
Jeff Jarrett and Tomko both returned to TNA television this week at the Impact tapings. Jeff Jarrett was shown in the rafters, much like Sting has done in recent weeks. It will more than likely be the last shot you see on the "go home" show before the pay per view.
Tomko put over Samoa Joe at the Monday tapings and although he recently left the company, it's been reported that he has not signed a new contract and will probably be used on semi-regular basis rather than full-time. After leaving TNA, Tomko's plan was to simply work in Japan, but after seeing a number of upcoming IGF events being canceled, he contacted TNA about returning.
TNA Contracts Set To Expire; Christian Cage & Sting's Status
Posted by: Wrestling-Radio.com
Christian Cage, Sting, Team 3D, and Kevin Nash contract with TNA expires before the end of this year. Sting's contract is believed to be near finalization with an extension, as he has stated in the past that he would not appear on television unless his contract has been renewed. He appeared at the TV tapings this week.
The door is still open for a Christian Cage WWE return according to sources within the company. He left on good terms and would be able to make his return with a storyline involving Edge. He has told friends that he's happy with his current situation in TNA, which is what he told people regarding WWE before his departure.

The primary reason Gail Kim left TNA for WWE was due to the significant discrepancy between the kind of money WWE offered her and what TNA offered her. According to multiple sources, Kim really didn't really want to leave TNA, but she felt she had no choice but to accept WWE's offer due to the massive difference in money.
Despite being the most consistent TV ratings draws for the company, it appears that no matter how successful the female performers are for TNA, they're still not going to make much money, at least in comparison to the guys. The company still saw the top babyface in the division of what has become, from a television ratings standpoint, their most successful entity, as a low-budget expenditure. TNA offered their top female babyface star well under $100,000 per year, a figure that can only be met if she appears on a target number of shows, so if she gets hurt, she's not getting all the money. TNA's offer to Kim was said to be less than one-third of what WWE was offering - a six-figure downside guaranteed contract for three years. Also, Kim can potentially earn significantly more from appearing on pay-per-views and house shows, not to mention merchandise such as action figures. Additionally, TNA's lackluster offer to Kim probably doesn't bode well for the other girls in the company when their respective contracts come up considering that the top star couldn't even get a six figure offer. There was said to be a huge void backstage at this week's Impact tapings as a number of her friends couldn't believe she was gone, especially without saying goodbye before she left. One friend of Kim's with knowledge of TNA's apparent lowball offer deemed it to be "insulting" and "possibly sexist." Also, Kim couldn't risk getting hurt or being jobbed out once her decision to leave TNA was made.
There were a ton of empty seats at last Saturday's TNA event in Topeka, Kansas as the house show only drew 500 fans to the Kansas Expocentre, which can hold 8,000 seats. Additionally, house shows the week before in Dallas, Texas (8/15) and Muskogee, Oklahoma (8/17) drew poorly as well. However, the 8/16 house show in Lawton, Oklahoma reportedly drew drew okay.
TNA has posted a schedule of upcoming wrestler appearances. Velvet Sky, Kurt Angle, AJ **** Christian Cage and Taylor Wilde are among those listed.
Thanks to reader Everett for sending in the following:
Last night MCW held their monthly show and I got a couple of news bits for you. This is my first hand report not second hand from someone else. Joey Matthews during an in ring promo said that he was going back to WWE in December along with partner Christian York. Joey said he spoke with John Laurinitis earlier in the day and he was going back as Joey Mercury. After you guys reported that Kevin Nash left the Impact tapings I wondered if he was still with the company. Kevin said that he still has two months left on his contract, if TNA gives him the money he wants then he'll be staying otherwise hes out the door.

The Prince Justice Brotherhood team name for Curry Man, Shark Boy & Super Eric in TNA is either a rib on or inside joke on former creative team member, Abyss.
Abyss wrestled early in his career in Nashville and other areas as Prince Justice. When he joined NWA Wildside he changed his look and dropped the "Prince", becoming the monster, Justice, and became NWA Wildside Heavyweight Champion. When TNA crowned it's 1st heavyweight champion, Ken Shamrock, it was with a Gauntlet For The Gold in which Justice was a participant.
Justice went to Puerto Rico and was renamed and recreated by booker Dutch Mantel as Abyss, and re-joined TNA officially in June 2004 in an initial but short-lived feud with Jeff Hardy and has been in TNA since.
Exactly why the Prince Justice Brotherhood name was chosen by the TNA creative team is unknown regardless of the "inside" rib or joke aspect, I'm not real sure how it "brands" or helps Curry Man, Shark Boy and Super Eric. Clearly the name entertained someone in TNA creative, but who knows who else.

For Christmas last year I received a TNA calendar as my gift from the company. I had only sent them a card. My bad.
I bring this up because Mr. September in the calendar is Jeff Jarrett, and no one including Jeff knew when the calendar was created that he'd return to TNA in September if at all.
When I wrote Jeff about it he agreed it was a weird coincidence but noted "everything happens for a reason".....so true.
Jeff Jarrett stopped wrestling for TNA in May of 2006 due to the illness then tragic death of his wife Jill. I know the decision to return to wrestling was a tough one for Jeff, but return he has or will on TNA TV next week, taped several weeks ago.
Every match-up with Jeff is fresh, and his return to TNA will be good for the company, and hopefully for him too. _______________________

NWA Executive Director, Bob Trobich, recently entered into an agreement with former TNA Director Of Touring, Rich Baker. Baker will have a similar position with the NWA and will be seeking NWA house show deals with buildings nationwide.
Rich Baker was with WWE prior to joining TNA. At TNA he dramatically increased the number of house shows for the company. He left the company when TNA required that he move to Nashville. Baker lives in Connecticut, and he and his wife did not want to move. I had the pleasure of working with Rich at TNA, and he is a tremendous acquisition by Trobich and the NWA.
The NWA promoted various events over the last year at larger facilities such as Phillips Arena in Atlanta, shows contracted by David Marquez, the NWA Member in California and Producer of the on again/off again NWA Showcase TV Show on the Colors Network.
Bob Trobich is positioning the NWA for controlled growth, adding house shows, cooperating in NWA Title angles with ROH, expansion into Mexico with shows promoted by Blue Demon, and returning to production of the Showcase TV show in mid-September with production partner, Big Vision Entertainment.

For the record, Team 3D signed two-year deals with TNA, which run through September 2010. The two did an angle last Friday at a house show in Westbury, New York saying their contracts had expired and they didn't know if they were staying in TNA or going back to being the Dudleys. They said they would make an announcement the next night at the house show in Manhattan. This was done to get some last minute ticket sales since it wasn't sold out. The next night, they teased once again going to the "other company." They asked the fans what they should do and they got a big response telling them to stay. They then "signed their contracts" in the middle of the ring to stay with TNA. The night before, Devon was asked where he was going and outright lied, saying they had gotten a better money offer from WWE and were going to the Raw brand.
Former TNA star Konnan filed a trademark infringement claim on the LAX trademark against his former company, but the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas threw the case out. Konnan claimed he came up with the LAX idea.

» Backstage in TNA, many feel the company is looking to eliminate a handful of talent in the coming weeks. While I have not heard any specific names, wrestlers looking to be released from their contracts are more likely now to be granted his or her wish. Recently, Johnny Devine requested his release, and it was granted. TNA is looking to cut costs, and due to recent contract renewals of some higher paid talent, the company is now more open to the idea of cutting free some talent that TNA hasn't invested a lot into. They have also not flown a number of talents to Orlando for the iMPACT! tapings in recent weeks.
» There is also talk backstage that wrestlers who haven't been receiving pushes or used lot on television recently are trying to get involved in the Main Event Mafia angle. Many of the wrestlers believe they need to be apart of this angle since they are likely to fall through the cracks, which happened to many workers in WCW when the New World Order angle dominated the direction of the promotion.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Booker T and WWE star The Boogeyman, real name Marty Wright, were visiting a local Houston sports ball this past weekend called Vito's Deck House and were involved in an incident that ended with the authorities being called.
Wright and Booker entered the bar and it's being reported that Wright was wearing a chain with a cross on it. They were told by bar management that the cross was against dress code and that it must be removed before the two could enter the premises, otherwise they would have to leave. Booker then got upset and asked to speak to the manager who explained the cross was a violation of the dress code. Booker asked where the dress code was posted, however found nothing that indicated that crosses were not allowed.
Police were called after Booker and Wright refused to leave and Booker informed them that two other patrons at the bar were wearing crosses yet they were not approached by management.
Booker has a protest scheduled and he hopes it gets as much publicity as possible to inform people about the sports bar suppressing people's freedom to express their belief in God.
This whole incident with the bar smells funny. Why were others allowed to wear it, but not Boogey? Weird.
BG James has transitioned from being a full time wrestler to being a backstage worker for TNA over the last few weeks.
Legendary commentator Bobby Heenan has shown tremendous improvements in his health over the last few weeks.
The price for the TNA iMPACT! video game has already been reduced. It's generally $20 cheaper nowadays.
Looking For Work
Road Warrior Animal expressed in a recent interview that he was hoping to work as a road agent for either WWE or TNA.
Returning to ROH
Samoa Joe will be working a match for Ring of Honor on November 22, 2008. His likely opponent is Tyler Black.
Kurt Angle and Jeremy Borash are currently negotiating a deal to get on the Sirius network.
