Today's Special was one of my favorite show when I was young.  I thought that it was a less simpilistic show then Sesame Street.  I loved how all the character interacted.  There was Jodie who was a real human, and Jeff.  Then there was the puppets Muffy, Sam, the computer, and then the space mouse.

I also remember this show although I only vaguely remember the episodes as I was quite young when I first started watching this show, however I do remember the main characters in particular...Jeff, Jodie and Muffy and I also recall the very bad makeup and bright cameras on the set that seemed to magnify the bad makeup quite a bit. I realise it was a sign of the times and budget etc but nevertheless...

I remember it, and it's old for 2 reasons.

    1. Simpsons (the store) no longer exists.

    2. Whenever they show the police cars, they're yellow. Police cars in Toronto have been white for quite a while.

Wow, so there was actually a store that existed for this show, like a real live department store! COOL.

I certainly remember this show. I used to watch it on TV Ontario chanel 32 (Windsor, Ontario). It was one of only two children's televison shows with a black main character (The other being "The Reading Rainbow.) Gotta love that Canada!

In the interest of full disclosure, I wasn't a little kid when this show aired. I merely watched it because I had the hots for Nerene Virgin. The female Southwestern Ontario accent just aboot drives me oot of my mind... except for the way they pronounce "pasta" and similar words that have a rounded "short a" sound in American English. That's just weird.

If you want to hear something funny, ask someone from Ontario to say "I'm sorry about the Mazda 300ZX."

Sam ruled, I used to watch this as a kid, the funny thing is a friend of mine just sent an e-mail with the starting credits of Pinwheel and Today's Special.

Shouldn't it have been a restaurant with the name Today's special

Oh my god!. I can't believe I found this show!. A few years ago, this show suddenly popped up in my head. I could not remember the title for the life of me. I could of sworn "Special" figured into it somehow, but I wasn't sure. Anywho, I remember the lady, the mannequin, and the mouse. NO ONE remembered this show. I figured my mom would. Nope. Sister. Nope. So, I sent some e-mails to some online TV people and critics. Nadda. I figured it was over. I would never know what this show was. Just my memories.

I went thru the site today, looking for more shows to add to my list, and here it was. I just clicked on it because it had "Special" in the title, so I thought I would just see. Voila!. Lol. I can't believe I finally found this show. I was quite young when it was on, but I remember this show. Mainly the set-up and the characters. I am glad I found this board and I wished we could see this show again for old time's sake.

I loved this show as a kid. For the longest time I couldn't remember the name of it. I only remember a manniquin named Jeff and a rhyming mouse. Then a coworker brought up the show. Everything dinged into place. AWE Nostalgia. I would love to see this show again.
