  • Grandma is showing some leg in the rocking chair. Nobody has picked up that cat vomit on the windowsill. The baby is eating the TV antennae. WE WATCH AS THE INEVITABLE ENTROPY OF THE SUBURBAN LIFESTYLE PLAYS ITSELF TO DEATH VIA PRIDE, VANITY, AND SLAPSTIC

    10
This show would never admit its profundity. But it is profound, and it is special, and it is telling the truth in a form that is capable of more truth than anything before it. All of the elements of society are pared down to their base elements of snapshot, jingle, and lingo. All of Tom's heroic intentions are written into silly songscapes, etched in a t-shirt, and talked into paperwork. There is no truth. There is no pity. There are just whispered ideas and the roar of implementation. The visual structure of the show, the snapshots, capture perfectly the banal poses of suburbanites and they act out dust storm after dust storm. The families are dirty and disjunct, the joys are vain and masturbatory, and the conclusions are inevitable. I love this show. And these three guys are in a groove like they would not believe. I consider this show a "DONT MISS."
  • Animation At Its Worst...

    1.0
It is bad enough Cartoon Network has relegated the finest Animes to the "dead zone" of late night on weekends, but to put on a show that is so unwatchable, it makes Robot Chicken look like Grey's Anatomy, that's a cardinal offense!

Tom Goes To The Mayor is a pointless AND humorless show that makes no sense, as if the stoners from "Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle" decided to make a cartoon just out of boredom.

There is NOTHING funny about this show and the sooner the few "fans" of this trash realize it, the better.

I hope that this show will get the help it truly needs, by getting canceled!
  • I have never seen a show like this one -- I love it! Even though it may not appeal to everyone, its writing, pacing, and wonderfully twisted style is genius creativity, in my opinion. Bravo!!

I have never seen a show like this one -- I love it!
Even though it may not appeal to everyone, its wonderfully twisted style is bordering on genius creativity, in my opinion. The writing, timing, and pacing of these episodes are exceptional. Bravo to Tim, Eric, and everyone else on the show who is responsible for this terrific and loveable madness! For this type of show, Tom Goes To The Mayor speaks to me in every way!!
  • If you don't like it.....

You need some serious help in the satirical comedy department. go watch some Mr. Show, Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, Ali G and anything else twisted or extremely funny and you will understand this show. The jabs it takes on the mid and lower classes and the utter randomness and craziness are to die for.
  • It's a crude style of animation that must allow for optimum personal spending, since they obviously dont fund the show much. The humor is quick and witty and catchy as well. The long pauses are hilarious, and the skew they put on pronouncing certain words

It's a crude style of animation that must allow for optimum personal spending, since they obviously dont fund the show much. The humor is quick and witty and catchy as well. The long pauses are hilarious, and the skew they put on pronouncing certain words is also a hit. You mnay get discouraged at first, but it draws you in, and then ...you know.
  • Tom, a newcomer entrepreneuer in Jefferton, goes to the town's mayor in an effort to spread his good will. That's the way it starts out, anyway.

    9.0
Ah, what words can express what TGTTM really is? The Photoshopped animation is clearly something that has never been done before. The creative plots, often satirical in nature, are not for everyone, but satire is my #1 favorite kind of comedy. And poor Tom! His plans are innocently good-willed, but the devious Mayor twists them into something different all together. Plus, what show is complete without Bob Odenkirk? If you are a fan of Bob Odenkirk, satire, or a new genre of comedy, then this show is for you!!
  • Something completely new, different, and fresh....but where's the audience?

    10
Tom Goes to the Mayor is a show this new, fresh, and like nothing ever seen before. It's just that, unfortunately, not all people get its unique brand of humor thats actually quite hilarious. This is saddening.

Okay, basically the whole premise is that...Tom, here, goes...to the mayor. Together they hatch crazy schemes to better the town of Jefferton, and they run it by the city council and if they approve it, they get to carry out their crazy scheme. It's always hilarious, but it's that dry, awkward kind of humor featured in movies like Napoleon Dynamite, except this is much more wacky.

If you'd like to see what Napoleon Dynamite Smoking Cocaine would look like, this is the show for you. Dry, awkward humor presented in wacky style. Check it out.
  • Tom Goes to the Mayor almost instantly turns off most viewers, with it's awkward animation style and bizarre humor. If one gives it a chance however, it can be the funniest show in the Adult Swim programming block.

    9.5
Tom Goes to the Mayor almost instantly turns off most viewers, with it's awkward animation style and bizarre humor. If one gives it a chance however, it can be the funniest show in the Adult Swim programming block. With the relative decline in quality of originals Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021 recently, Tom Goes to the Mayor remains as the one truly innovative comedy on Adult Swim (perhaps along with Harvey Birdman). The jerky, basic style of the animation becomes hilarious as the actors exaggerated facial expressions are frozen on the faces of the characters. The interactions between Tom and the Mayor are always marked by great comic timing by the actors. The comedy is indeed somewhat bizarre, but once the viewer adapts it is impossible not to laugh. If you're a fan of anything else Bob Odenkirk has done this is for you--David Cross even makes a guest appearance! (along with many other far more well-known actors).
  • Worst Show ever.

    1.0
Nobody I know likes this show. Its not funny. It has horrible Blue Blotted Animation. And I change the channel everytime its on. When Will AS learn. even they admitted that the show only has 5 viewers. I have no idea why they even still Air it. All it is doing is bringing down Adult Swim.
  • If you can find yourself at home in Jefferton, you'll love it.

    10
I can't beging to express how in love I am with "Tom Goes to the Mayor." From the town of Jefferton, to the good-hearted nature of her newest citizen, to the excentric and manipulative ways of the mayor, this program has me enthralled.

It is hard not to feel for poor Tom Peters, who has a horrible wife and step children and wants nothing more than to make life better for others. Regardless, I find myself on the edge of my seat, anticipating the turns for the worse he'll face once going to the mayor.

It is bizarre, it is creative, and it is downright funny. Rats off to Jefferton!
  • Gay ass show omg. It sucks so bad.

    0.1
OMG!!! This show is sooooooo gay. I cannot believe it's not cancelled yet. The animation is so horrible and I nearly puke on some episodes because it's so disgusting. Wow, this show is the worst ever! Nice waste of money Adult Swim. Just like Super Milk Chan this show is pointless. I pity the people who like it. Get a life TGTTM lovers! I give it a 0.1 out of 10 for actually still being on the air.
  • The 2nd Season wraps up this weekend (catch it early on The Fix) and boy what a summer Tim and Eric have provided.

    10
When this show first started it was THE thing to hate, clubs were made, petitions, and all that other rubbish that actually never worked. The second season came rolling about people were hating Pee Wee's Playhouse wait do you see a trend? The Internet is for hate and pornagraphy just like Uncle's house. Anyway some people decided to give the show a second chance and it's a good thing they did, this was the most amazing television season I have ever seen! Tim and Eric (the creators) knew they had something special from the get go they knew they could take surreality to new heights even Space Ghost or Aqua Teen couldn't reach. With 17 episodes (4 more than the first) that were ingrained in our minds for ever.

    My Big Cups
    Bass Fest
    White Collarless
    Jeffy The Serpent
    Wrestling
    Saxman
    Spray a Carpet or Rug
    CNE
    Friendship Alliance
    The Layover
    Couple's Therapy
    Glass Eyes
    Undercover
    Puddin's
    and *deep breath*
    Joy's Ex

These episodes listed above showcased the supreme madness of season 2. Wait *does the math on hand* I listed 16 episodes and this season had 17! That's right with the exception of one dud this season made all the right moves to assure a long life for Tom and his schemes. Well at least until T&E move on to another zany project.
  • So overlooked it's sad.

    10
This show has come along and made me laugh the hardest I've ever laughed. It is so refreshing to not have to look at some horrible new wave rushed out the door disaster of "animation" that I feel has swamped television. The simplistic nature of the art in this show is what helps contribute to it's appeal. The awkwar dmoments are all that more awkward without animations sometimes.

The guset stars are phenomenal. The jokes are all funny and the characters that have been created are wonderful. The splicing in over real actors from time to time is nice.

My brother and my Friend Jake are the only ones who find this show funny...besides me. I can't explain it enough to some of my other friends who apparently can't grasp that the simplicity of the show is where it's greatness is.

    Their loss.
  • While it may give you a laugh every once in a while, Tom Goes to the Mayor suffers from weird stories, bad artwork, and has the worst animation I have ever seen in a cartoon

    2.5
Tim and Eric's first show on Adult Swim, Tom Goes to the Mayor, may have been a good show, but it fails on almost all levels. The story is about a man named Tom Peters, a person who has interesting ideas about benefiting mankind, who lives in the town of Jefferson. Tom meets with the mayor of Jefferson and offers his ideas. The mayor agrees, but usually takes the idea too far and both Tom and the mayor mess up and learn a moral lesson. That's the whole show for you in a nutshell. There is no variety to the episodes and it gets very repetitive very fast. The stories are just downright weird with Tom offering the stupidest ideas and the mayor going along with them. I know that Tom wants to help everyone, but if you hear some of his crackpot ideas, you would be scratching your head as to how Tom's ideas help mankind. The characters themselves are also uninteresting, Tom is boring and dull, and the mayor is just too random and seems like he's always high. The artwork is just terrible, it looks like photoshop images instead of actual drawings and the characters are pencil drawings with no color to them. But the ultimate thing that makes TGTTM bad is the animation. Calling the animation bad or horrible is an understatement in this show. It's so bad there needs to be a new word created to describe its awfulness. If you look up inanimate in the dictionary, chances are you will see Tom Goes to the Mayor as a perfect example. The characters never move their lips and they very rarely move at all. I officially take back what I said about Squidbillies and 12 Oz. Mouse having the worse animation ever, at least the characters moved in those shows. To be fair, TGTTM did get a laugh out of me every once in a while, but the humor was barely there in the show and that funny moments there actually were were too far and few in between. This show is just so stupid, the characters are not interesting, the stories are repetitive, the artwork is bad, and the animation is the worst I have ever seen. The only other positive thing in this show is that it's not Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job! that show has no humor at all, but in TGTTM it did have its funny moments, but it's not enough for me to recommend this show to you, just pass it up.
  • No effort what's so ever

    1.0
I don't even want to do a review on this thing, but I will if I must. This show was horrible. I'm happy it got caneled. Anybody who liked this show must my taking weed or something because this show is trash. I don't even think the writer had any effort on this show. Making blue cut-outs of people and puting voices on it. That isn't animation! This shouldn't even be a show. This shouldn't of been on TV. Adult swim is getting worse and worse by the day! I can only stay and watch more horrible shows coming.

  • Tom Goes to the Mayor, I wish I would've ran longer. I mean you kinda knew it had to end eventually, and I enjoy Awesome Show quite a bit, but I would've loved to see Tom run for at least one more episode. What can I say? I'm a fan.

    9.0
Tom Goes to the Mayor is the first show by comedy duo Tim & Eric. Its unique, funny and creative all while being satirical and completely insane. Having said that, I'd like to point out that its definitely not for everyone. If you like Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job, you might like this show, and if you just like absurd, abnormal cartoon comedy, you might like this show. The majority people probably won't, though and people will tell you that its somewhat of an acquired taste which is true.

If you're familiar with the usual brand of humor featured on adult swim, this show is pretty close but still has its own type of surreal weirdness in the comedy that only Tim & Eric can provide. Sometimes the 10 minute episodes are really hit and miss, but when they hit I think they're really effective. As it progresses and develops the shows bad animation, I think it evolves into a style that becomes all its own.

The characters are generally pretty funny. You've got Tom Peters, played by Tim Heidecker, and The Mayor, played by Eric Wareheim. Tom Peters is a would-be entrepeneur always trying to make an honest living with some random product or marketing... powerpoint... randomness. A lot of the show is random. The Mayor upkeeps a very business oriented appearence, but as Tom gets to know him more, he discovers that the mayor is just certifiably insane. Bob Odenkirk, who was also a writer on the show, plays a lot of random characters throughout the show and usually, they're really funny. The kind of work you expect from Bob. One of the recurring characters I need to mention is Gibbons, Tom's best friend, and a midget man-child, with the head of Brian Posehn. Gibbons is a funny character that pops up every now and then and is very funny. He never gets used too much, so he's usually an enjoyable character.

Tom Goes to the Mayor, I wish I would've ran longer. I mean you kinda knew it had to end eventually, and I enjoy Awesome Show quite a bit, but I would've loved to see Tom run for at least one more episode. What can I say? I'm a fan.
  • Took a awhile for me to open up to this show...

    9.0
I have to admit I hated this show at first. But after watching the episodes a few times it has really started to grow on me. I particularly like the style of animation used; totally unique as far as I know. The comedy is of the wall, more akin to British comedy and I think thats why alot of people don't get it. i have to admire the perseverence of Tom Peters, he just keeps on truckin' throughout the most unpleasant and silly circumstances. The mayor, with his bizarre behavior complete lackof common sense is a perfect compliment to Tom's overenthusiam.
  • This show sucks about some guy talking to another guy who guess is the mayor

    1.0
This show is terrible I have now idea how it lasted this long its just dumb the way its animated is even stupider how could anyone watch this crap its a total waste of time adult swim really droped the ball on this one and I usually like all the shows they put out I really cant think of one reason to watch this show just avoid it tim and erick should not have been based on a cartoon or even have there own show they are not funny or entertaining they just do completly random things hoping to get a pity laugh
  • Oh no, I can't watch this crap anymore

  • tom goes to the mayor is a wierd cartoon set in the made up town of jefforton. tom, a civic do gooder, and the mayor are always teaming up to carry out toms hair brained ideas, and they always get in trouble.

    9.0
ok, i know most people who have seen this hate the hell out of it. i for one love it. for one, i likes the way the drawings were done, and two, i actually loved the humor. tom peters is a wierd cat, but the mayor is the one i liked the best. hes such an idiot.............but its funny! toms wife, joy peters, is quite possibly the meanest lady ever, and reminds me of a female jabba the hut. sh is always yelling and screaming at tom, which is why he has to keep coming up with crazy ideas to keep from going home to his wife. the mayor is always gung ho on toms rediculous ideas, but when things get too hot, the mayor has a knack for leaving tom hanging. i hear this show is on hiatus, but im hoping tim and eric will be back big time with this show..................
  • One of the worst.

    1.3
    Stupid Stupid Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
    Stupid Stupid Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
    Stupid Stupid Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Toms wife is totally revolting. The Mayor is just an idiot and Tom is dumber than a fence post.

The series just became lamer and lamer as time went on. I hope its really dead. I will say it is better than the newest show like "Assy McGee" (a pair of butt cheeks with legs??? You gotta be kidding) AS is scaping the bottom of the barrel with that entry. Its not even listed on TV.COM!

Why did I watch it? Most of the time I just fast forwarded thru the episode as I usually record Adult Swim as its on too late!
  • "Rats off to ya!" why is this show so devisive?

    9.7
It's animation is unique; pictures of the cast are filtered (like the photocop tool on Adobe Photoshop) and added to traditional animation backgrounds with occational live action thrown in. Tom Peters (Tim Heidecker) visits the mayor of Jefferton (Eric Wareheim) every week with some sort of suggestion or buisness plan that the mayor then misinterprets, twits or downright steals which leads to financial ruin, disrepute or catastorphe. The journey is only half the fun, along the way there's made up swear words (shirt! crickets!), crazy characters and guest stars like Jeff Goldblum, Tenacious D and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Formulaic but never boring.
  • it sucks bad

    1.0
this show is so gay its like michel jackson made it!!! people who agree with me, good, because this show sucks and when they move it is so dumb ass gay!!! this show is just so horrible. if you say dam as in a bridge holding water isint a bad word. geeze this show just sucks. if you have any comments tell me.
  • It's so weird that it's just irresistable to me. I also love all of the hilarious guest stars.

    8.0
Tom goes to the mayor is definitely one of the weirdest comedy shows I have ever seen in my life. However that is the quality that makes me keep coming back for more. The stop animation gets annoying at times but the weird modifications that they do the photographs make for some really interesting special effects. Their extremely eccentric sense of humor gets Tom Peters into many completely out-there situations, after which he is usually the one that ends up being screwed. Their use of celebrity guest stars is the shows best quality though. They create perfect characters for the guests to take the shoes of. Each guest star that I have seen so far has blended in to the episode seamlessly and has improved it in a hilarious way. If you like weird shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, definitely give this a try.
  • No sir, I just dont like it.

    1.0
I have tryed to watch and enjoy this show honestly, but I just cant get into it. In my opinion it is a complete waste of time and everytime it comes on tv I immediately change the channel or turn off the tv. The times I have forced myself to watch it I found the jokes to be unamusing and the animation/live action or whatever you wish to call it repulsive. I dont understand how anyone could possible stand this show at all but I gues everyone is entiled to there own opinions/views which is why this show is still going at all.
  • One of the worst shows ever.

    1.1
Tom Goes to the Mayor has to be one of the worst, if not the worst show to ever be shown on Comedy Central's otherwise excellent Adult Swim. Let's start with the "animation"--*that's* animation?!?!?! No, those are poorly drawn sketches cut out and pasted on animation cells. I suppose the show creators think this is an edgy or avant-garde kind of look, but it's actually just poor and revolting. I might be able to stand the animation, however, if the plot or characters were at all funny or interesting--but they're not. *Not* *at* *all*. I also get very irritated at the way in which Comedy Central will keep advertising their web site or their calendar, or whatever crap these creators are putting out. But perhaps the most disturbing thing about this show is those commercials with the creators dressed up as supposedly dorky and/or scary characters; neither effect is achieved.
  • Fair enough.

    6.5
Tom Goes To The Mayor follows the coming of Tom Peters in Jefferton who starts off his arrival by sharing his ideas with the mayor of the town. The show could get quite boring and repetitive. The situations are highly predictable for we all know that Tom will find himself in a problem but then he will magically find his way out as the mayor adds in his incoherent commentary during every situation. This show does provide a good laugh every few moments but the problem is that each episode needs more originality and twists. It is mildly interesting due to its direction in comedy, though.
  • This Show Takes Stupid To A Whole New Level

    0.0
If you've seen the commercials for the show, you would probably get a second opinion. Nobody wants to see the creators of the show dancing in short shorts and those stupid shirts. What was really disturbing was seeing one of the shows characters humping the Mayor in the *** and Tom is just sitting there watching. Also the episodes are intolerable, I have tried to sit through several of these but I find myself changing the channel all the time. It's really NOT funny and I don't understand what people who like it see in it. Trust me: Change the channel, you'll be better off!
  • Another good animated comedy.

    8.8
This is truly a great animated show. I enjoy watching it over and over and over again. I can watch the same episode 2 or 3 times in a row just so I can catch things that I might have missed. I think I have all of the episodes recorded and I watch them whenever there is nothing good on TV. It is always entertaining to me. I will also have my friends and family watch the episodes with me and try and get them hooked. So far everyone has because it is that good of a show. Look for it on the air or come over to my house and watch my DVD's.
  • Good for short amounts of time

    3.5
I really liked the first episode. Sometimes, the jokes go a little over-the-top and remind of Drawn Together...which sucks horribly. This show definitely has moments of goodness, but overall it misses the mark. It substitutes real comedy with strangeness most of the time. It might be worth a look for some.
