First Run Fan Poll:
Would you have helped Carmen?
A. No way, it's a competition 20%
B. Yes, it's the right thing to do 80%
(all percentages are as of the end of the initial broadcast.)
Carmen: (upon being told she had the highest score) Do I faint now, or do I wait for a little later?!
Jay: (critiquing Carmen's oyster stew) Well, I think there's real power here. I really feel like somebody's dancing on my tongue.
Gail: I'd like to see that!
David: Carmen, how are you doing?
Carmen: I have a big station and no food.
Kelly was quite excited to finally get to sample the food made by the competitors for the Quickfire Challenge. In every other episode in the series, Kelly is only present to elicit a detailed critique from the people brought in to judge the food, and never got to taste it for herself.
According to Jay's blog at the Bravo website, he and the other Critics were aware before Mekhi's party started that Carmen was having issues, since they were at the Top Chef Kitchen set when she dashed in to get her stew. They were not aware of exactly what her problem was, or how serious it could have been for her chance to continue on in the competition, until she told them the story at the Critics' Table.
