  • unfortunately, Brian truly was the weakest link

I like Brian - he's a fun guy, lots of energy, and his likeablity is clear. His inability to truly lead his team, and letting them decide what would and would not be served made him appear indecisive, and that is not what a top chef should be. His cooking was always just okay, and just okay does not a top chef make. Hung, while a little on the arrogant side, something I am sure the producers absolutely love, is technicially an excellent cook, and does have a passion for it. What he does not have is good communication skills. I understand not wanting to give tips to the other chefs - I don't like it, but I understand it. What I did not like was his refusal to help the other chefs when it came to cleaning up or just lending a hand. Dale's cooking is pretty hit or miss - when it's good it's really really good, but when it's bad, it's awful. Like Hung, Dale's social skills are not that great either. As for Casey, her cooking overall has been good, and she has the one thing that Hung and Dale do not have. Charm. It may seem simple, but people look at who it is that is cooking for them and it influences how they react to the meal. Honestly, would you really want to eat anything that Howie was sweating in? Casey prepares her food well, and treats everyone with graciousness and respect. that combination will win her this competition.moreless

  • Campfire quickfire and cooking elk at a rodeo.

Okay Brian did screw up the quickfire, which could have contributed to him going home. Hung of course chopped the fish no problem and finished early, while the other chefs struggled with the stump and basic equipment they were given to cook with. Hung not only is more technically superior, but deals with adversity so much better, obviously. In the elimination challenge Casey should have been sent home. She cooked the elk the worst by far, has judged by the guest chef and Gail, Gail wanted to send her home. The guest chef said his peice was black and blue, and Tom was definitely leaning towards sending her home as well because of her undercooked elk. The fact that Casey was so confident with her dish, proves her taste buds are NOT all that. Does her good butter sauce really win over Brian's faulty decision to offer two cheeses? Clearly Casey's butter sauce was good, but when everyone agrees the elk and cauliflower she offered were horrible? This is not disputable, the judges agreed the elk and cauliflower were HORRIBLE! This is obviously a case of the producers stepping in once again and saving her.moreless

  • The chefs have to cook elk for a bunch of cowboys in Aspen.

I thought this was a great episode. Cooking game is difficult, so it wasn't something silly like cooking for an airplane and i enjoyed how creative many of them got with their dishes. I also think that Brian was the right person to go. I really enjoyed him the entire season but he was not in the top really on anything and I think he fell short on a lot of the challenges and the three that are left are much better equipped and deserving to be in the final. I am really interested to see who wins overall because I don't think any of them have an advantage over the other at this point.moreless
