With the new season in sight (distant though it may be), it seems prudent to create a news thread. Please feel free to post any news or ask questions here within the TOS.

Bravo has announced a Top Chef Cookbook that will, coincidentally of course, go on sale right around the premiere of Top Chef Chicago.

Details and a pretty picture can be found at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0811864308/002-8666504-5087207?SubscriptionId=19BAZMZQFZJ6G2QYGCG2

I like that idea. Lord knows Food Network has cookbooks for every day of the year.

Reruns have been a little sparse for the show because Bravo has their reality shows tightly booked. Good for them, no gaps in the schedule, but bad for anyone wanting to relive some of the old seasons' highlights.

According to the schedule, Top Chef Season One's last five episodes, including the never-before repeated first – and some say best – reunion show will air Thursday, February 28, beginning at 10 am and continuing through 1 pm eastern and pacific times. Check your listings if you are on a satellite feed or mountain or central times.

In fact, given Bravo's penchant for changing their schedule right after I post (I know, I know, it's only about me, not the show), check your listings just on principle.

This is a Variety article that's pure question and answer, but there are some funny moments with Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, executive producers for the show: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117981131.html

Harold Dieterle is featured in this month's Esquire magazine, as part of their "The Best Sandwiches in America" article. He is one of six chefs they asked for an actual recipe.

This is a six-page interview with Padma and Tom, but there's some interesting bits from behind the scenes, such as Tom looks over potential contestant's resumes at a point in the decision process (IDs blanked out, of course):

Bravo has announced a spin-off of Top Chef called Top Chef Junior (although that's a working title, so expect it to be changed). The show will be geared for families and feature teenagers who compete for this new title. The first season will be eight episodes and is produced by Magical Elves, as is the original.

Additionally, Bravo has green-lit a documentary/reality series that will show master chef Jean-Christophe Novelli as he attempts to set up shop in the states. This show comes from the production house that brings us Work Out, Mentorn USA.

There's been no official announcement, but if this blog is to be believed, New York City may be the site for season five:
