According to the article below a casting call has gone out in New Orleans, and will also be called in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York.

    See: http://blog.nola.com/davewalker/2008/04/top_chef_schedules_new_orleans.html

Please note that the article says to go to the site for casting details, but the site has not been updated since early 2007 -- they're still talking about Top Chef Miami.

It would be awesome if they recast all Top Chef Winners including top chef runner ups! Sort of like an Ultimate Top Chef. At least this was the tittle wont get diluted, and there will be an overall champion.

Bravo's "Top Chef" offers a fascinating window into the competitive, pressure-filled environment of world-class cookery and the restaurant business at the highest level. The series hosted by Padma Lakshmi and presided by head judge Chef Tom Colicchio features sixteen aspiring chefs who compete for their shot at culinary stardom and the chance to earn the prestigious title of "Top Chef." Each episode holds two challenges for the chefs. The first is a quick-fire test of their basic abilities and the second is a more involved elimination challenge designed to test the versatility and inventiveness of the chefs as they take on unique culinary trials such as working with unusual and exotic foods or catering for a range of demanding clients. The challenges not only test their skills in the kitchen, but also uncover if they have the customer service, management and teamwork abilities required of a Top Chef. The competing chefs live and breathe the high-pressure lifestyle that comes with being a master chef, and each week someone is asked to "pack up their knives" and go home.

"Top Chef: Chicago" is produced by Magical Elves. Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also produce the Emmy-Award nominated "Project Runway," "Step It Up & Dance," and "Top Design" for Bravo, return as executive producers. Shauna Minoprio also serves as executive producer.

I'm enjoying reading their application. I notice they ask if you have a good passport that will work all year... too bad the Top Model people didn't ask that, because at least one of their contestants had a problem with it and got into some trouble last episode. Although it was more that she had lost hers than that she didn't have one.... And, wow, they can put you through physical and psychological tests AND a background check after all the other pages of info you give them. They do seem to have fewer full-on flat-out crazy contestants than other shows (top model again comes to mind); I wonder if those shows do this at all.
