  • Really not, a good episode!

    9.0
This really, wasn't a good episode. Of Top Chef but the reason, I gave it. A nine, is because, it showed more drama. And that it showed, why Radhika was sent home. She seemed, to be or have, absolutely no open house skills. Thought that, Jeff should had opened and closed the restaurant. As he knew how to do that, having his own restaurant. The judges were, really ticked off. And they left, before she got to say good-bye. Fabio showed off, his skills and charm. And his team, barely won. Fabio is really, something else. Though his food, may not be, always up to par. Stefan is really something else. He is really arrogant. Nobody wants to be around him. He needs to get, the pic!moreless
  • Well, this was another one of Top Chef's signature Restaurant Wars. It wasn't the best Restaurant War, but it was still pretty good. You also see Toby Young going at it again with his lofty and carping analogies...this time, he uses Elvis.moreless

I think Radhika was the right person to go home today. She just hasn't shown us her strength. It would have also been nice had Leah gone home after that backstabbing in the previous episode, but luckily for her, she dodged the bullet simply by being on the right team. What they really could have done was instead of judging the chefs by their respective teams, they should have split the chefs and judged their elimination based on their own performances. I think this would have been so much better because the individual performances on each team were so drastically different, like Stefan did awesome, but Leah sucked balls. I also really liked the guest judge in this episode. He was a lot nicer than some of the other guest judges in the past. He also occasionally showed his humor, a blue moon of a thing in these uptight connoisseurs.moreless

    • Female Patron: (critiquing Fabio's amuse-bouche) I liked it, it ah-moosed my bouche.

    • Tom: You know, also, she's not on the floor a lot. She disappears all the time. (looks around) Right now, she's not here. If we were to get up and leave right now, we would not get a 'Goodbye.'
      Padma: Let's leave. (they leave)
Stephen: (after they leave without Radhika noticing) Oh, you're right! You're right!

    • Fabio: (preparing to run front of the house for the "Sunset Lounge") I'm taking the prize home tonight. I run the front of the house! We can serve monkey ass in empty clamshell, we gonna win this one. I run the show in the front!

    • Jeff: (getting ready for service) I feel like a hummingbird on cocaine.

    • Fabio: (getting psyched for Restaurant Wars) It's gonna be a hot, bloody, nasty war. In love, and in war, you are allowed to do everything.

  • NOTES (7)

    • Radhika was the third of four chefs to fall to the Top Chef Birthday Curse, being eliminated on or around her birthday.

    • Stefan later explained that the reason he was so coy about telling Leah what desserts he was going to make was because he didn't yet know what he was going to do. He had several ideas, but didn't want to commit to anything until he had a chance to shop and see what was available. He felt that being mysterious was better than to promise something he might not be able to deliver.

    • According to Lee Anne, each team was given sixty diners in parties of twos, threes, and fours the day they planned their menu, and they were also given a reservation book for booking and spacing out their dinner service, which was to be five hours long. Sunset Lounge placed most of their reservations early, knowing that while dinner service may get backed up, at least their guests would be in the capable hands of Fabio and everyone would get fed. Sahana on the other hand booked several 11 p.m. tables. They were not seated until 11:40 p.m. because Team Sahana had gotten backed up because they couldn't turn tables. And when Radhika finally seated the last table, she told them they only had twenty minutes to eat!

    • Lee Anne notes that unlike in a previous Challenge, the freezer was working just fine; the contestants kept opening it too much, and that's why they couldn't get their frozen desserts to freeze properly.

    • Lee Anee says in her blog that the metal giraffe bought at Pier 1 eventually became a Culinary and Art Dept mascot, and then when season five finished filming, it became a production wrap pinata.

    • For the QuickFire, Lee Anne stocked the Top Chef Pantry with everything she thought they might possibly want or need, including foie gras and five different varieties of caviar.

    • When asked about the names chosen by the cheftestants for their restaurants, Guest Judge Stephen Starr said that he liked Sahana, but that he thought Sunset Lounge sounded like something he'd heard a million times, or could have been the title of an Eagles song. Sahana, which in Sanskrit means "strong, powerful, and resilient", is the name of Radhika's niece.
