  • I liked the whole episode. The quickfire on making something that went with a specific beer was very good and of course tailgating something that is a challenge in it's own right.moreless

The beer quickfire was great, some of those dishes were great and it showed a lot of creativity and talent. The elimination challenge was also worthy of the series.
I saw on another show, Dinner Impossible where the chef had to beg borrow and buy ingredients to make brunch for 60 from what was available in the parking lot. To see what people bring there was somewhat surprising.
Back to this show, it is getting nasty in some respects. One guy bought all the wings so no one else to make wings, but some of the dishes were beyond the normal tailgating food. The pork dish and of course the winning dish, the ribs are just two examples.
I agree with a previous reviewer, the wrong person went home. In one of the previous years someone was sent home for poor kitchen sanitary skills and for the reason he tasted something with a spoon and then served with it deserved to go back to Australia and cook on the barbie. I do applaud him for using charcoal even though he was a mess.moreless

  • Finally, an individual challenge!

Most of the chefs were on top of their game after the heinous fight that occurred after last week's element challenge. This week's challenges were simple. For the Quickfire, chefs had to create a dish that went perfectly with a type of beer they chose. For the Elimination, they had to grill something delicious for a huge tailgate party. This Elimination challenge is one of those that allows the chef a lot of freedom, and most of the contestants took advantage of that. There were clear losers and clear winners, but I felt once again that the wrong person went home for this one. Not that the losing dish definitely didn't have its flaws, but how many basic mistakes can a chef make before they get the axe? More than three, apparently. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.moreless

  • Pretty fun episode.

In this episode, for the quickfire, the team has to make a meal that compliments their drink which is various types of beer. The chefs have to cook for Chicago Bear fans individually. I think at this point, if you haven't gotten where you are by cooking or receive any type of nod for how good your cooking is.....you're about to be kick off in the next few episodes. Nikki is soft with the cooking and is constantly supposedly having very small problems that knock her off. Ryan looks good and is very charismatic and really nice, but I don't really look @ him as a great chef and don't think I ever will. I think the Australian cooks well but is having some culture barriers that keep getting in his way. Dale wins this challenge with the other typical foods winning out such as ribs, burgers, pork, and steak @ the party. I think anyone that got too complicated lost out. I don't know much long Spike is going to last. Dale wins this challenge. At this point, my top picks are Stephanie, Richard, and Dale @ this point. Fun episode. Most def worth a watch.moreless

    • Chef Tom Colicchio says that this was one of his favorite Challenges of season four, but he admits that a big part of it was the chance to meet Gayle Sayers, a football player he grew up watching and admiring. Edit
    • Koren Grieveson, the QuickFire guest judge, is (somewhat ironically) Chef de Cuisine at Avec, a wine bar in West Loop Chicago. Paul Kahan, the Elimination guest judge, is the chef and owner of both Blackbird and Avec. The former specializes in "internationally influenced" American cuisine. Edit
    • Lee Anne says she loved Dale's potato salad (which accompanied his winning ribs) so much that she consumed an entire quart in one sitting when she took the leftovers from her Bravo website feature The Wong Way to Cook from this episode home. Edit
