  • The Italian team's restaurant name Lalalina came from Lacey, Michael's wife, Lauren, Sam's girlfriend, and Carolina, Ilan's girlfriend.

  • Marcel's team originally planned to do a Mediterranean themed restaurant called Medi, but they changed to their MEC Diner concept while driving back to the loft.

  • The culinary arts aren't the only string to Marcel's bow. In response to the hazing of his fellow competitors, he wrote a poem entited "These People":

    As soon as I came to the spot,
    You started trying to make me out to be something I'm not.
    It's taken everything that I've got
    Not to pop you in the face.
    And you've got no grounds to base your accusations off of,
    Because your building's built on quicksand.
    You say my food lacks fundamentals like salt and peppa,
