The Italian team's restaurant name Lalalina came from Lacey, Michael's wife, Lauren, Sam's girlfriend, and Carolina, Ilan's girlfriend.
Marcel's team originally planned to do a Mediterranean themed restaurant called Medi, but they changed to their MEC Diner concept while driving back to the loft.
The culinary arts aren't the only string to Marcel's bow. In response to the hazing of his fellow competitors, he wrote a poem entited "These People":
As soon as I came to the spot,
You started trying to make me out to be something I'm not.
It's taken everything that I've got
Not to pop you in the face.
And you've got no grounds to base your accusations off of,
Because your building's built on quicksand.
You say my food lacks fundamentals like salt and peppa,
And I'm like, yo, man, whatever!
Like last season's episode "Wedding Bell Blues", there was no winner in this round of the competition.
Elia: (at the loft) Where's Marcel?
Sam: I think he's on the roof. He's trying to jump.
Ilan: (trying to talk Elia into selling out her teammate Marcel) If you guys go up to the loser's block, then you just blame everything on Marcel.
Elia: I don't wanna be in that Judges' Table for negative comment ever again, ever!
Michael: I love mayo, man. I'll eat it right out of the can.
Sam: I went to culinary school, my parents spent tons of money and I came out with a deep love of mayonnaise.
Padma says in her blog that she would have chosen Elia instead of Marcel in the QuickFire Challenge since she was more innovative with her snack. She agreed with Mike Yakura about Sam, however.
Lee Anne says in her blog that when she got done briefing the competitors on the rules of the Elimination Challenge, she asked them all if they had seen the Season 1 episode "Restaurant Wars". She was flabbergasted when they all said no.
Guest Judge Mike Yakura was, at the time of taping, the executive chef for both Sutra and Aura restaurants and lounges in the San Francisco area. At the time of broadcast, Yakura had left Sutra to focus solely on Aura, of which he is part owner.
In his exit interview Michael compares himself to the pig from the book "Charlotte's Web". Both got further in their respective competitions than anyone dreamed possible.
