Top Gear US Season 1 Episode 5

While this episode definitely continues a positive direction in the improvement of the show, this episode was nowhere near as much of a jump as the previous three episodes. The main reason is that this was a complete re-has of Top Gear (UK)'s episode 7 of Season 10 when the guys did a similar series of tests of some British Leylands (right down to the egg-in-a-colander test and the park-on-the-steep-hill test). They even did absolutely nothing to to change the fill-the-car-with-water test! The previous episodes did a slightly better job of putting an American spin on the original show's version than they did here. It was still amusing, definitely so if you never saw the British version. Lastly, Rutledge needs to work on his interviewing skills - was quite boring and constantly seemed like he was merely reading the script that someone had typed up! Bottom line, the show is still on a steady improvement, this just didn't improve the show as much as the last couple of episodes did.
