Jeremy has spoken for the first time about 'that whole Stig thing'.

    The Guardian 7th September 2010

I think Ben will find that the myth of the Stig is more interesting than the reality of Ben Collins. Will you be interested in his book?

Edit: To hear Jeremy speak about it, you need to fast forward 27 minutes exactly, into the video.

That's not surprising. "It's a racing driver", it's not allowed to think or write books.

    Two things to point out:

    1. Jeremy sounded like a complete douche. Ok, Ben shouldn't have gone to all that trouble to "out" himself as The Stig, but to me it sounds like Jeremy is saying "screw him, we don't need him - he's fired - oh, but the show will suffer dramatically..."

    2. Ben Collins; what an idiot. He got to drive any and every car in the World, even the ones that HE couldn't even obtain. Prototypes, 1 of a kinds, Bugatti's, incredibly luxurious - not to mention fast - cars, and got paid for it, yet, he rather sell a few copies of his book then continue on with this career? Really?

He said he started writing the book back a year ago (Xmas 2009), claiming he was worried he wouldn't be contracted for the following years on the show, and yet, before he even got "canned", he released the book without hesitation (or so it seems). He probably spent more money on publishing the book then it made for him in return profits.

Fair enough, it probably sucks to not get the recognition of being who he was, but fame isn't everything.

Top Gear will find someone else - maybe even Michael Schumacher will become the "real" Stig? Haha

That Ben Collins guy is a dick. He's not the Stig, the costume and the jokes are the Stig. He's just a racing driver, and an untrustworthy one at that. Like what, his autobiography couldn't wait? He just couldn't wait to leech fame from Top Gear? Whatever, bring on a new Stig or something and all will be fine. The only thing that is hurting right now is Ben Collins for losing that great job of his.

I think you've summed that up quite nicely.
