Due to the X-Factor stealing ratings, there won't be any Top Gear this year apart from a Christmas special. I hate X-Factor, even more now.

Thanks for creating this thread, Yaspaa; I tried to do this yesterday, but for some reason, I wasn't able to. The Editor can't create threads - TV.com's great, isn't it? Anyway...

This is the post I tried to make yesterday:

Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed, on Twitter, that the 19th series of Top Gear will not be broadcast until 2013.

    Clarkson's Twitter Page

It seems to be about avoiding reality TV rubbish and protecting Top Gear's ratings. On the plus side, he says: "the good news is that the longer we have to make the films, the better they will be". Can't argue with that, although if they weren't wasting time with those stupid live shows, they would have time to make 'proper' Top Gear.

    -----------

I'm not really convinced this is the real reason: I wonder if it has more to do with their Top Gear Live commitments? Aren't they planning to spend a few weeks in South Africa, this year?

No problem mate. The glitches on the site are rediculous, everyone seems to have their own differing problems. I hope this means we get a few more episodes in the season at least.

Agreed about what a downer it is about no TG for the rest of the year. But at least it gives them more time to plan out new shows. I still love it, but felt they've been slipping a little.

Also agreed about the errors and glitches on this site. Few days ago I couldn't post a thing and another I couldn't edit. It was very annoying.

Sadly, yes. This is why DVDs and Blu-rays are a good option. *Looks at his stack of DVDs and Blu-rays...*

To confirm that there will not be any new Top Gear episodes this year, Jeremy tweeted this:

    6:57pm (BST) 02/10/2012

Well people here we go. Warm clothes and thick boots packed. We leave in two hours to start the Top Gear Christmas Special. Airs in February

    7:00pm (BST) 02/10/2012

I know February isn't Christmas. But it is our Christmas special. And it will be shown in February. Don't ask me why.
