I thought that TGGF was excellent. And unlike many other peoples views, I don't think that the sports relief videos ruined it. They are there for a reason.

It was way too choreographed, that was the only criticism. Did anyone see the outtakes by the way?

Outtakes were shown later on in the night. I saw the outtakes but missed the actual thing.

it was amusing in and of itself, but far too staged, and far too blatant about it. for example, just before richard put the digger stuck in a hole, i kept my eye on it even though jeremy was talking in the foreground. admitedly I expected the shed window to be broken or knocked over by the digger arm as opposed to what happened, but still. I'm no good at working out what's going to happen in tv shows, even when its obvious to most other people, but even i saw a lot of what was to come a mile off. yes i know its tv, and i'm familiar with the defence that things are scripted and staged in tv, but a show like top gear should try and limit how much is staged, or at least stage stuff thats at least plausable. the 3 guys are interesting and clueless on other matters enough that they could genuinely make an amusing mess of things, but they're useless actors, which makes poorly staged scenes even worse, look at season 9, which at times looked like a terribly written and acted sitcom. yesterday i saw a blog on the radio times website about how the blogger in question hated top gear. obvously i found most of it utter rubbish but a couple of the criticisms, including the issue of staging, were not entirely unjustified. as for the sport relief segments, I wouldn't have minded them at the beginning an end, but to put them in the middle, especially when i imagine I was far from the only person who only watched it because it was the top gear boys (although I also watched the apprentice bit), well that was just an attempt at gross emotional manipulation of a tv audience, the fact that its a good cause doesn't make such hard selling any more acceptable. those that were interested could watch the whole show and have all the encouragement videos they needed, but they shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us.

throughouly enjoyed it, I badly needed a pick me up that night and it was just the ticket

was clearly staged though which usually puts me off but I was willing to look past this time

I can't believe people were surprised it was scripted. I think the lads should stick to cars.
