I like both the us and polar shows but the sound track to the polar one puts it over the top for me.

What can I say, I like Requiem For A Dream.

The Polar Special is being repeated:

    Sunday 30th December at 8pm on BBC2.

Relive the best TV moment of the year - James and Jeremy driving across the Arctic ice with a gin and tonic in hand.

I don't think they beat the record that they went out there for.

The objective (for Jeremy and James) was to drive to the Magnetic North Pole - they did that. They didn't set out to beat a record.

Do you mean the record for the first car to make it to the North Pole?

i got this from the BBC Top Gear website

"Richard Hammond never actually made it to the Pole. Communications between the two teams were unreliable at best, and after Jeremy and James arrived and we realised just how far behind Richard was and it seemed cruel to make him go the extra distance just so Clarkson could gloat."

    shame isn't it

the link also contains other fascinating facts about the polar challenge episode

OI! We have a perfectly good Trivia section for that episode!! I don't know why I bother... I'm now flouncing out in a huff of pique... and other stuff. Harrumph!

I loved the Polar Special. As far as pure fun and entertainment, the American road trip has it covered but as a challenge and pure emotional rollercoaster, this was outstanding. In my opinion, this has to be the best Top Gear film to date (including the trip to Africa). This show rules.

The Polar Special and the American Special are to be released on DVD on the 3rd March 2008. Yay! I must have this for the American special alone. Link-type-thing.

Whenever I hear the name Oliver, The song from Oliver Twist pops in my head and stays in there for hours. My singing drives my wife nuts. LOL
