Episode Summary

More amphibious fun with the TG3 as they attempt to cross the Channel to France in their amphibious vehicles from series 8 [episode 3]. Richard has a new redesigned 'Dampervan' and Jeremy's 'Toybota' is replaced by a 'Nissank'.

Jeremy drives the Audi R8 on the track, while Richard prefers the Porsche Carrera 2S. These will most likely be the only vehicles not to sink this week.

Jools Holland is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

Who was the Episode MVP ?

This episode of top gear was one of the best so far completely took me by surprise when the brought the boat/cars out agian last time they done that i was dying of laughter and the same thing happened this time also i can not beleave the toyota got across the channel it ws brilliant.

Jools holland did well this week attempting to do the lap i also liked seeing him go off the track.

I liked seeing them do more with cars this series the first episode had loads to do with cars and the second had that bit near the start with the porche.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Jeremy Clarkson: Some say that he's banned from the town of Chichester. And that in a recent late-night deal, he bought a slightly dented, white Fiat Punto from the Duke of Edinburgh. All we know is he's called the Stig.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: [On the handling of the Audi R8] Driving most supercars is like trying to manhandle a cow up a back staircase. This is like smearing honey into Keira Knightley.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: The town of Sangatte was about to get three more immigrants. Never mind that we'd aimed for Calais, France is France.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: Do you want to come on this boat?
James May: Up to a point – yes.
Jeremy Clarkson: Will you admit it's a brilliant piece of design?
      James May: No. Bugger off.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: I'm 47 years-old. I'm going to be run down by a Korean grain carrier - minced...

Richard Hammond: Yeah, but what a day.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: [Referring to the LED lights on the Audi RS8] ... And those LED fairy lamps at the front, they make it look like a Council house at Christmas.

  • NOTES (2)

    • Richard Hammond: Meanwhile, back with Captain Pugwash...

Captain Horatio Pugwash is a cartoon character who first appeared in the Eagle comic in 1950. The character first appeared on television in 1957.

    • Jeremy Clarkson : …And those LED fairy lamps at the front, they make it look like a Council house at Christmas.

A Council house is provided by the local authority for people who are unable to afford private housing; either by way of a mortgage or high rent for more desirable housing. It has become popular amongst council house tenants to decorate their houses at Christmas with an abundance of lights and general Christmas decoration.

It is either something you find charming and festive, or tacky and cheap. Council houses are easy to identify as they normally have a bin standing proud outside the front door – or they are on fire.
