  • So much to laugh about...

    9.5
Oh.. after a little confusing and a lot of trying to out what episode it was (I love local tv channel what shows two episode of season 4 and after that episode from season 11) I am here to write what i think.

I totally loved the episode. First it was just so funny. I cannot even describe the atmosphere we had in room when they, one by one, revealed their choices for police cars and what they did later - the beating Stig and getting laptime.. then the accident scene and later the stop a car.. Clarkson and his rome looking idea of having car stopped - it was just.. so crazy and so funny to watch.

I really think the best thing to say about this episode is that it was very funny and some moments really crazy.
  • Not the best.

Not the best episode that I have seen from Top Gear, if they continue at this rate throughout the new series, alot of viewers will be lost in my opinion.

I felt the first half was brilliant, up to standard and a good start, but the second half with the police cars was a little "over the top", I dont mind them acting a little silly, but they took it a little too far, they could have still kept a little seriousness in the challenge.

Also it was a bit too fake, like I knew what was going to happen.

But all in all, I am most definately glad that Top Gear is back after the season break, and am looking forward to the rest of this series, best car show hands down, nothing comes close.
  • A great opening to a new series

Perhaps I am overly generous with my 9/10 for this episode because I am simply so happy to see the lads back on our screens again, but really, I don't care. Though it started slowly and the stunt driver seemed pointless I still laughed my socks off at the police cars and was very pleased to have great Sunday night TV again. Though the stunt driver may turn out to be an interesting new element to the show only the next few episodes will tell. As for the rest of the season, well if the clip they played of what is to come is anything to go by then it is set to be a brilliant season once again. Keep it coming, loving it
  • A wonderful TV series returns and possible the funniest thing on British TV since the end of Extras.

So what did the Top Gear team do in the face of the £1.18 litre (= $8.81 per US Gallon I think???) petrol prices to show how down to Earth they are and help the BBC stick to their public service remit?

They laughed in the face of it, and raced 5 super cars on a Gallon of petrol to see which is the most efficient.

Many may scoff at this and say it shows that Top Gear is as out of touch as ever (and I don't personally watch it for relevance, there's plenty of car shows that review the latest people carrier or city run-arounds) but it does show the uncomfortable truth about environmental fuel pricing. The only people you hurt is the common man. Whatever price the petrol, a Ferrari that gets ~1.5 MPG isn't ever going to be efficient or environmentally friendly and the owner will be so well off as to not care.

Then to hammer the point home they show (a little unfairly, it's not how a Prius is meant to be driven) that hybrids are a stop gap solution at best (whilst noting that the manufacturing process isn't exactly green either) and that an M3 is more fuel efficient at the Prius's top speed.

With the eco-warriors busy finding their recycled parchment to write to points of view and the BBC's Director General, the show gets back to doing what it does best.

Reviewing cars that we all dream of having a 5 minute go in (that's all the petrol we could afford after all), a nice ultra sporty reduced weight Ferrari.

Sadly, the Clarkson style is as predictable as ever. Starting off slating the car before magically transforming his opinion and singing it's praises by the end. This is getting to be a rather boring style and I wish he would think about changing this annoying habit, but it's still good.

Finally, the £1,500 Police cars. This is what Top Gear does best and is where it's real strength lies. The super car reviews are great but this is the real meat of the show.

It had me laughing out aloud on numerous occasions, I was struggling to remember laughing so much with a TV show??? Many purpose written comedies are not as funny as Top Gear!

I'll be interested to see where the Top Gear stuntman goes, and the Stars in the reasonably priced car is a nice break to go get a drink as far as I'm concerned. I just don't get the celebrity thing and why anyone cares about them???

For me, this show is the best thing to British TV at the moment. I can't really think of anything else worth watching, a truly marvellous show. I hope it continues for the rest of the series.
  • It's been too long! I was starting to get annoyed with the constant repeats of top gear on Dave! Channel Dave rocks tho!

This episode like all others of top gear episodes involved a silly challenge, amazing reports on great supercars and great guests. This episode was great for three reasons. Firstly The test to see which supercar could run the longest on a full tank of fuel. Of course the Audi won! Second was the the Challenge! Hilarious police cars! James included a paint spray on the back of his car to spray the criminals windscreen, it actually worked! Unfortunatly for james the stig out smarted him and used his window wipers to get rid of the paint.

Finally the guest, or should i say guests. Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr the amazing duo. They both had a go in the reasonably priced car and unbelievably Alan beat Justin! These two get on so well together and with Jeremy Clarkson Interviewing them pure hilarity.

Lets hope that the series carries on like this episode!
