Episode Summary

An improbable race can only mean one thing - Top Gear is back. This race is from King's Cross station in London, to the bar of the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh, using three different modes of transport. Jeremy will travel on the Peppercorn A1; a modern replica built to the exact specifications of the original Peppercorn A1. James drives the exquisite Jaguar XK120 and Richard rides the Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle.

On the track, Jeremy drives the Lotus Evora and the Stig drives the Ferrari FXX.

  • Fantastic start for season 13!

I loved the challenge/race in this first episode of the 13th series of this fantastic show. They managed to make me all excited about the race, and the train looked beautiful. It was also nice for once to see Jeremy to the heavy lifting, while the other two got to drive!

As always Jeremy was wonderfully horrible in his review and their news section was still there with similar jokes. Luckily, and hopefully throughout this season, no putting pictures of cars on the wall!

Now there was a big bombshell in this episode with the guest claiming to be Sting. Though amusing it was just too much of a publicity stunt. And they don't really need it as everyone loves this show! Also ... this particular guest is not the greatest one to be interviewed, as most of the times he is pretty boring (though his skills as a driver can't be argued).

Look forward to the rest of the season!moreless
  • A great start for the new Season.

Well, TG is back! And a very interesting episode to start with. The new Lotus that Jeremy drove was stunning, and is it just me, or have they introduced a new camera angle during test drives, the moving vehicle angle? That looked real cool. The Ferrari FXX was sublime, boy does that look sweeeeeeeeeeet. A couple of points I want to make. First Top Gear say Ben Collins is the Stig, and then for no reason, after spending the last 12 seasons pretending he's a creature not a human, they reveal him as Michael Schumaker? I'm still trying to think what they would have gained by revealing The Stig's identity. One of the great mysteries and intrigues of the show has just disappeared. How can they know continue the whole Stig persona?

And I still doubt Michael Schumaker is the real Stig. How would he find time in between the work he does for Ferrari to race vehicles in Britain?

Without being too sexist, I am appalled at that Women's Rights Group over in the UK who say Top Gear is sexist and needs more women. Disgraceful. Imagine the farce they would create if a Men's Group said that there needs to be more men on some women's show (I can't think of any). I say this, because in the season preview, there was like five women appearing in TG scenes. I count 3 non guest women in the last 12 seasons of TG. Something needs to be done about these ludacris left-wing groups.

For once, it was good to see Jeremy not driving the car in the journeys they do on TG. To see him on that steam train was quite cool, and the whole product was done really well. I love how Hammond wasn't even given the chance to finish the race in the video. LOL!

Good opening, hopefully another brilliant seasonmoreless
