Episode Summary

The Jaguar XK is driven by Jeremy through the spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. He didn't like the fact that the car was made to a budget and felt 'cheaply made'. He compared it to the BMW 650i and the Mercedes SL350. Despite his view that the German cars were better made, he still preferred the 'less sophisticated' Jaguar. He also drove the new Corvette Z06. Richard was in Iceland for a race against a jet-powered kayak - he drove the Tomcat 4x4.

Jeremy, James and Richard took over a live drivetime radio programme on BBC Southern Counties Radio and were rubbish at it. They managed to annoy the listeners and the sports reporter (well done).

Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Where is iceberg when you need one?

Ok.. this one was those episode where they have together everything - humor, fast cars, beautiful views, stylish camera work and stunning soundtrack over it all.

I have hard time to pick what was the best part - I loved Hammond's race against that jet-powered kayak. And I loved the iceberg thing...

And then the fantastic scenery when they tested Jaguar.. I just loved the music, those mountains.. it was fabulous.

And the radio show.. one thing they totally failed - you just cannot be perfect on everything.

And Stig on old reasonably price car and making the fastest lap.. What a great way to end that Liana's run..moreless
  • It won't disppoin you I promise.

The new Jaguar XK was reviewed. Quite a marvelous car but Jaguar needs to make cars that stand out instead of look so much like an Aston-Martin.

The new Corvette Z06 (or Zed-06) was also reviewed and damn what a car. It outran ignited fuel and takes off from a dead stop in 5th gear. Crazy. And its faster than most of the cars that have been put on the Top Gear track.

The rest of the show was ok as well. There were some fun parts here and there, such as Richard Hammond racing in Iceland.

But the best part was definitely the Z06. God what an amazing car.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Jeremy Clarkson: Some say he has a digital face. And if he felt like it, he could fire Alan Sugar. All we know is he's called the Stig.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: Then there's the BMW. Yes, it's very fast and yes, it's very well-priced, but my God it's ugly. That roof! Looks like a tramp's hat.

    • James May: To test for Speed [amphetamine sulphate], they'd have to give the driver a hoover.
      Richard Hammond: Eh?
James May: You know when you're at a big party, at the end of it everybody's asleep, the bloke who's on Speed is always hoovering.
      Richard Hammond: What?
Jeremy Clarkson: The rock and roll years with James May!
Richard Hammond: I can just imagine the hotel: 'I hope Mr May hasn't trashed his bedroom... oh it's immaculate'!

    • Jeremy Clarkson: God was probably very proud of Yorkshire when he'd finished it. But at a stroke, his efforts have been made to look lumpen and amateurish by this - Jaguar's new XK.

    • Richard Hammond: The car is sashaying around. It's like a... fine layer of stones on volcanic ash, which is very interesting on a geography field trip, but bloody scary to drive on.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: [Driving the BMW 650i] Last time I had this much fun some furniture was broken.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: [Talking about the new Z06] As something to live with everyday, I would rather have bird flu.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Stig's Lap Time:

      Corvette ZO6: 1.22.4

    • The Stig in a Reasonably Priced Car Lap Time:

      The Stig: 1.44.4

This was the last lap in the Liana before it was replaced by the Lacetti. Stig's time was not surprisingly, the fastest recorded time.

    • Star in a Reasonably Priced Car Lap Time:

      Gordon Ramsay: 1.46.38

Gordon Ramsay is a chef: he has 7 Michelin stars and a very ****ing colourful vocabulary.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: Some say he has a digital face and if he felt like it, he could fire Alan Sugar.

Sir Alan Sugar is the 'star' of, The Apprentice UK. He fires people. That's the programme's thing - him firing people.
